Description
Salesforce Administrator and Business Analyst
About Wilshire Boulevard Temple
One of America's most highly respected congregations, Wilshire Boulevard Temple has been serving the Los Angeles Jewish community since its founding in 1862 as Congregation B'nai B'rith, the city's first synagogue. Today, Wilshire Boulevard Temple carries out the mission through a variety of ways, as a center for Jewish spirituality and celebration, a place for lifelong learning and friendship and home to an engaged congregation where every person can make a difference.
We have three locations to serve our communities: the historic Erika J. Glazer Family Campus in Wilshire Center/Koreatown, our modern Audrey and Sydney Irmas Campus in West Los Angeles, and our inviting Resnick Campus in Brentwood.
About the Role
Wilshire Boulevard Temple is replacing its legacy constituent database, Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT, with Salesforce as the single system of record for membership, clergy and pastoral care, advancement, and program operations across the Temple, its schools, camps, and the Karsh Family Social Service Center. We are seeking a Salesforce Administrator and Business Analyst to join the Temple’s project team while our implementation partner builds the new platform, help our departments define and test what it must do, and then own the day-to-day administration of the Salesforce org once it is live.
The role blends two disciplines. During the build it is mostly business analysis: documenting how departments work today, turning those needs into requirements and user stories, and running acceptance testing with our implementation partner. Once live it is mostly administration of an org serving more than 100 staff users. The balance shifts toward administration as the platform reaches steady state.
This is a full-time remote position with occasional visits to our Los Angeles campuses. The role reports to the Information Systems Director, with a close working relationship with the Senior Director of Data Systems, who leads the CRM transformation. The role begins as a dedicated member of the CRM project team and is expected to transition into the permanent Salesforce administration function for the organization once the platform is in production. Salary range: $75,000 to $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
Business Analysis and Implementation Support
- Facilitate discovery sessions with department stakeholders to document current processes, pain points, and desired outcomes, and turn them into requirements, process maps, and user stories with acceptance criteria
- Serve as the day-to-day liaison between Temple staff and the implementation partner, tracking open questions, decisions, and deliverables
- Plan and lead user acceptance testing for each release: write test scripts, coordinate testers, and log and triage defects
- Prepare customization requests for the Change Control Board with business case, impact, and effort
- Support data migration readiness: field mapping review, validation of migrated records against Raiser's Edge, and exception reconciliation
- Contribute to the adoption plan: phased onboarding by department, training materials, and usage dashboards for managers
Salesforce Administration
- Configure and maintain the org with declarative tools: objects and fields, page layouts, record types, validation rules, Flow, and permission sets
- Manage users, profiles, roles, sharing rules, and login security, including multi-factor authentication, under the Temple’s data governance and privacy policies
- Build reports and dashboards for departments and leadership, and coach staff toward self-service reporting
- Own data quality: duplicate management, import and update jobs, data audits, and constituent record standards
- Monitor integrations with surrounding systems, including middleware imports and exports, and resolve failures with the data platform team
- Evaluate and test each Salesforce and NPSP release and communicate changes to users
- Maintain org documentation and standard operating procedures, deliver training and office hours, and serve as first point of contact for Salesforce questions
Must-Have Attributes
- Ethical and Honest. Trustworthiness is paramount; this role holds broad access to constituent, donor, and family information and must be reliable, accountable, and forthright.
- Translator. Able to ask a department head "why" until the real need is clear, then turn the answer into a configured solution or a precise request to a developer.
- Service-minded. Values clear, thorough communication and support; staff should feel the system is being built with them, not done to them.
- Responsive. Turns around support requests, report needs, and testing feedback within reasonable timeframes.
- Proactive and disciplined. Works independently to completion, asks or consults documentation when unsure, and respects change control in a production org. "Winging it" is strongly discouraged.
- Steady under a moving timeline. Stays organized through a multi-year effort with shifting priorities, keeps commitments visible, and communicates early when something slips.
Skill and Education Criteria
Required:
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience administering a production Salesforce org
- Demonstrated ability to build declaratively: custom objects and fields, page layouts, validation rules, Flow, permission sets, and reports and dashboards
- Experience gathering requirements from non-technical stakeholders and documenting them as process maps, user stories, or specifications
- Experience planning or executing user acceptance testing on a Salesforce project or release
- Experience with Salesforce data management: Data Loader or similar tools, duplicate management, and data quality audits
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear end-user documentation
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
Preferred:
- Salesforce Certified Administrator credential, current (strongly preferred; support to obtain it is provided)
- Experience with the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) or Nonprofit Cloud, including households, donations, pledges, soft credits, and recurring giving
- Experience on a CRM implementation or migration, especially off Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge or another legacy constituent database
- Experience working with an implementation partner or developers, including reading and testing custom code (Apex, Lightning Web Components)
- Familiarity with integration middleware such as Omatic, or with data platform tools such as Azure SQL and Power BI
- Familiarity with synagogue membership, lifecycle events, and engagement programs, and with Jewish culture and holidays
- Familiarity with fundraising operations (moves management, gift processing) and with how gift, pledge, and dues data flows from a CRM to an accounting system such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
