Salary: $73,000 to $85,000

About the Position
We seek a Staff Accountant, reporting to the Accounting Director. The Staff Accountant will be a key part of the finance team, supporting the Accounting Director with an array of financial functions.
Responsibilities:
- Performs general accounting functions in support of the month-end and year-end close
- Prepares schedules for review by the Accounting Director
- Prepares journal entries for review by the Accounting Director
- Prepares multiple cost allocation schedules on a monthly basis
- Responsible for processing Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable
- Interacts with staff, vendors and bank personnel in a professional manner
- Tracks international wires as needed to ensure successful payment
- Ensures adherence to established procedures and internal controls
- Ensures compliance with sponsoring agency regulations
- Assists Accounting Director in research as needed
- Assists in preparation of the annual financial audit and intermittent programmatic audits
- Assists in preparation of the 990 and related activities
- Supports the Accounting Director with various other activities and projects, as needed
- Acts as a backup for various accounting functions as needed
Qualifications – required:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting system
- Experience working with Anybill or a similar accounts payable software
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting requirements, GAAP and Uniform Guidance
- Knowledge of foreign exchange transactions
