    Position Title: Art Teacher

    Employment Type: Full-Time

    Overview:

    The Art Teacher at Launch is a passionate and creative educator who brings visual arts to life for students across grade levels. This role is grounded in Launch’s commitment to student expression, high-quality craftsmanship, and integrated learning. The Art Teacher designs and delivers engaging, standards-aligned instruction that connects artistic practice to students’ identities, communities, and academic growth.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Instruction & Curriculum Design
    • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned visual arts lessons across grade levels. Integrate art history, criticism, and studio practice into a cohesive curriculum that reflects diverse artists and cultures. Connect art instruction to cross-disciplinary themes and EL Education practices.
    • Student Culture & Studio Environment
    • Create a safe, inclusive, and joyful studio environment where all students feel seen and are encouraged to take creative risks. Establish and maintain clear expectations for participation, care of materials, and respectful critique.
    • Assessment & Student Growth
    • Use ongoing formative and summative assessments to track student growth, provide meaningful feedback, and adjust instruction. Maintain student portfolios that demonstrate artistic development over time.
    • Community & Exhibition
    • Organize and curate student art exhibitions and celebrations that showcase student work to families and the broader school community. Partner with colleagues on schoolwide events and interdisciplinary projects.
    • Professional Collaboration
    • Participate actively in grade-level and schoolwide planning meetings, professional development, and crew. Collaborate with content-area teachers to integrate art into cross-curricular projects and learning expeditions.

    Qualifications:

    • State teaching certification in Visual Arts preferred but not required
    • Experience teaching visual arts in a K–12 setting preferred
    • Deep knowledge of studio art techniques across multiple media (drawing, painting, sculpture, digital arts)
    • Strong relationship-building skills and a commitment to culturally responsive teaching
    • Commitment to Launch’s mission, values, and equity-centered approach to education
