Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice (IMIrJ)
Location: Portland, OR (Hybrid / Remote with local availability)
About the Role
At IMIrJ, accompaniment is not just a program—it’s a movement building.
We organize community members to show up alongside migrants navigating some of the most difficult moments in the immigration system: court dates, ICE check-ins, detention-related processes, and other high-stakes situations. This work is relational, urgent, and rooted in the belief that no one should face these systems alone.
We are looking for an Accompaniment Program Organizer who can help hold and grow this work—someone who is grounded in immigrant justice, can coordinate many moving parts, and is able to show up with care, clarity, and responsiveness in moments that matter.
What You’ll Do
What This Work Requires
This role sits at the intersection of organizing and direct service. It requires:
While this is a hybrid role, candidates must be based in (or willing to relocate without relocation assistance to) the Portland metro area, as some on-call situations require in-person response on a short notice.
What We Offer
A Note on Fit
This role is for someone who believes in solidarity—not charity. Someone who can build trust across communities, hold complexity, and stay grounded in values even in urgent situations.
If you’re someone who can organize people, respond with care under pressure, and is committed to building collective power alongside migrant communities, we encourage you to apply.
