    Job Opportunity: Executive Director

    Northlake Homeless Coalition

Location: Florida Parishes, Louisiana with offices in Hammond and Slidell

    Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt

    Reports to: Board of Directors

    About Us

The Northlake Homeless Coalition (NHC) is the HUD-designated Continuum of Care (CoC) for Louisiana’s Florida Parishes. NHC is a coalition of agencies working to end homelessness in the region. Our partners work together to create an effective system for addressing housing crises in the region. Our vision is that our community thrives when everyone has access to safe and affordable housing; that housing crises are quickly and permanently resolved; and homelessness is rare, brief and non-recurring.

In 2027, NHC will launch the Cornerstone Project—a first-of-its-kind initiative in Tangipahoa Parish. The project will include:

    • 50 hotel units providing short-term interim housing for people experiencing homelessness
    • 24 one-bedroom permanent supportive housing apartments for individuals with special needs
    • A comprehensive resource center serving as a hub for social services and pathways to stability
    • An on-site Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) delivering medical and behavioral health care

The Cornerstone Project embodies our belief: Safe Streets, Stable Lives. A thriving community begins with a home for all.

    Position Overview

We are seeking a visionary and mission-driven Executive Director to lead NHC into its next era of impact. The Executive Director will serve as both the chief executive of the Coalition and the Collaborative Applicant (CoC) Lead Agency Director. This role requires a proven leader who can manage complex projects, navigate public and private funding streams, and build trusted relationships across sectors.

    Key Responsibilities

    Organizational Leadership

    • Serve as the chief spokesperson and ambassador for NHC across the Florida Parishes and statewide.
    • Partner with the Board of Directors to refine and execute the strategic vision to end homelessness.
    • Supervise, mentor, and support a growing team of 15+ staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous quality improvement.

Project Management & Cornerstone Project Implementation

    • Lead the successful development and launch of the Cornerstone Project, including the interim housing program, supportive apartments, and resource center.
    • Oversee project planning, timelines, budgets, and performance metrics to ensure goals are met.
    • Coordinate the Cornerstone Implementation Council and its committees (Program Development, Community Engagement, Communications, and Fundraising).
    • Monitor project outcomes and report progress to funders, stakeholders, and the community.

Continuum of Care (CoC) Executive Director Duties

    • Serve as the lead applicant and collaborative applicant for the LA-506 Continuum of Care, ensuring compliance with HUD’s Continuum of Care (CoC) Program regulations (24 CFR part 578).
    • Oversee the annual CoC Program competition, including grant applications, ranking, and coordination with HUD and the Louisiana Housing Corporation.
    • Facilitate CoC governance and planning processes, engaging nonprofit providers, local governments, persons with lived experience of homelessness, and other stakeholders.
    • Ensure equitable access to housing and services through effective Coordinated Entry management.
    • Provide oversight, monitoring, evaluation and support for CoC-funded programs, including Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), Rapid Re-Housing, Street Outreach, and Homelessness Prevention initiatives.

    Fundraising & Resource Development

    • Build and sustain funding partnerships with federal, state, local, philanthropic, and private sector entities.
    • Work closely with staff and the Fundraising Committee to expand NHC’s donor base and strengthen organizational sustainability.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Social Work, Counseling, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred, with equivalent experience considered.
    • Professional licensure strongly preferred (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or related).
    • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit, government, or housing/homeless services.
    • Demonstrated expertise in project management, including budget oversight, timelines, reporting, and cross-sector collaboration.
    • Strong knowledge of HUD CoC, ESG, HOME-ARP, and other housing/homelessness funding sources.
    • Proven ability to advocate effectively with policymakers, funders, and community partners.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and the belief that housing is the cornerstone of safe and thriving communities.
