Position Summary:
We’re seeking a skilled organizer with extensive experience to lead our kitchen team in Mazunte, Mexico!
Our Kitchen Coordinator works with, supports, and oversees a team of staff and volunteers to create the best dining experience possible for our students and community members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing kitchen staff and operations, co-leading weekly team meetings, and participating in monthly coordinators’ meetings.
- Managing our vegan menu according to the course schedule, accounting for seasonal changes.
- Coordinating with the Chef to manage the departmental budget and the supply ordering process.
- Proactively maintaining best practices in food hygiene and sattvic food preparation to support yogic practices.
- Suggesting improvements and supporting kitchen operations on all levels.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has:
- Experience in kitchen management (retreat centers, restaurants, hotels, etc.)
- Experience in sourcing and developing relationships with vendors for raw goods, supplies, and equipment
- Pragmatic leadership skills and the ability to manage diverse teams
- Intuitive organizational and multitasking skills
- High standards of hygiene and thorough knowledge of food safety protocols
- Excellent communication skills in English and proficiency in Spanish
