    Description

The American Constitution Society (ACS) seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and thoughtful Assistant Director of Strategic Engagement to build our capacity to impact state courts in Georgia.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Strategic Engagement, the Assistant Director will serve as the primary manager for executing ACS’s pilot strategy in Georgia. The role focuses on building a diverse, highly qualified pipeline of prospective judges for state appellate and trial courts, conducting nonpartisan judicial education and recruitment, coordinating candidate background vetting, and fostering public engagement around state court appointments and elections.

Although this position is fully funded through March 31, 2028, we anticipate funding will continue beyond that period.

The Assistant Director will also assist in other key elements of the Strategic Engagement Department’s priorities, including:

    • Design and execute in-person and virtual nonpartisan educational programs across Georgia explaining the role of the state judiciary and the mechanics of judicial elections.
    • Organize regional convenings for sitting state judges, legal scholars, and senior practitioners.
    • Help identify, cultivate, and present recommendations of highly qualified, diverse, nonpartisan prospective Judicial Nominating Commission appointees for consideration by state decision-makers.

    Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a J.D. degree from an accredited law school and have one to four years of professional experience. The ideal candidate will be familiar with state judicial selection processes and/or campaign experience. Candidates should also have outstanding judgment, interpersonal skills, and a commitment to ACS’s mission and values.
