    About Day One:

    Since 2003, Day One has devoted its full resources to preventing intimate partner and other forms of gender-based violence (GBV) among young people. Day One partners with New York City youth to end GBV through a combination of preventive and direct services. Our multi-disciplinary approach brings together a highly collaborative staff with expertise in clinical and legal services, prevention education, and youth leadership development. Serving New York City youth up to 24 years of age, our mission is to ultimately end gender based violence.

    Job Summary:

    Day One seeks a detail-oriented and energetic Clinician to join our Collective RAPP team. Day One seeks a licensed mental health practitioner to join our Collective RAPP team as a full-time Clinician. The position will be based at a geographical hub location, offering services to young people borough-wide.

    The ideal candidate would implement programming that offers evidence-based interventions and comprehensive psychosocial support to young New Yorkers who are at risk of causing harm and/or survivors of gender based violence. This position is ideal for a clinician who thrives in a dynamic setting, is adaptable, and is committed to community engagement, advocacy, assessment, and client-centered intervention practices. This role will work collaboratively with Day One Community Educators and Outreach Coordinator to ensure comprehensive service provision and an intentional footprint across the borough. The Clinician will be supervised by Day One’s RAPP Director

    As a full-time employee of Day One, the clinician will be assigned to a geographic hub where they will provide direct services to students and young members of the community. The position will be predominantly in-person, with the opportunity to be hybrid on occasion.

    The Collective RAPP Clinician will provide the following gender based violence prevention and intervention services at their geographic hub location(s):

    • Utilize therapeutic modalities to provide Trauma-informed and anti-oppressive individual and group counseling
    • Develop and deliver preventive workshops to promote healthy relationships, raise awareness about gender-based violence, and relationship wellness with middle and high school-aged youth
    • Develop and facilitate workshops to support parents and caregivers in identifying unhealthy relationship patterns and building skills to model healthy communication and engagement with their children
    • Participate in the recruitment and selection of participants for the Summer Peer Leadership Institute (SPLI)
    • Participate in the implementation of SPLI, acting as a thought partner and working collaboratively with the collective RAPP team to design content that offers a comprehensive understanding of gender-based violence and concrete skills that support leadership development
    • Identify and build relationships for potential partnerships in the geographic hub location, conducting outreach, partnership meetings, and community engagement
    • Work in conjunction with the Outreach Coordinator to streamline the process for workshop scheduling, new partner engagement, and event planning

    Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Develop and deliver classroom workshops on healthy relationships, dating abuse, consent and coercion, and other relevant topics.
    • Develop and deliver training for caregivers, community members, and school-based professionals.
    • Deliver trauma-informed and anti-oppressive counseling to individuals and groups affected by gender based violence.
    • Collaboratively coordinate and facilitate the Summer Peer Leadership Institute, a 6-week intensive training program for high school youth to learn leadership and advocacy skills.
    • Coordinate outreach, scheduling, and partnerships with community-based organizations
    • Participate in weekly clinical supervision; weekly Collective RAPP & monthly all team meetings
    • Work with Day One staff to determine program direction and expansion, including participating in strategic planning and program evaluation activities
    • Represent Day One at community-based events, panels, conferences, and occasional media opportunities
    • Assist in tracking program data through the use of Salesforce and contractual measurement tools
    • Availability for occasional evening or weekend meetings or presentations
    • Other related duties as assigned

    Requirements & Qualifications:

    • Master of Social Work or Mental Health Counseling with a minimum of two years of related work experience; LMSW/LMHC required.
    • Ability to provide counseling and/or facilitation in Spanish is preferred
    • Commitment to the empowerment of young people
    • At least 1 year of experience providing direct services to adolescents/teens
    • Knowledge in any or all of the following areas: the dynamics of relationship violence and the current anti-violence/gender-based violence landscape, community outreach and engagement, prevention education, facilitation and learning styles, and engagement tools.
    • Experience working with young people with various social locations (ex. race, ethnicity, ability, sexuality, gender, religion, socioeconomic level, housing status, immigration status, criminal justice involvement, foster care involvement, etc.)
    • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative setting
    • Writing, public speaking, and organizational skills
    • Excellent judgment, attention to detail, and time management skills
    • Experience with various technological tools, including G Suite, Zoom, Salesforce, and Excel
