    About Us:

Callen-Lorde is the global leader in LGBTQ+ healthcare. Since the days of Stonewall, we have been transforming lives in LGBTQ+ communities through excellent comprehensive care, provided free of judgment and regardless of ability to pay. In addition, we are continuously pioneering research, advocacy and education to drive positive change around the world, because we believe healthcare is a human right.

    Our Mission:

Callen-Lorde Community Health Center provides sensitive, quality health care and related services targeted to New York’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities — in all their diversity — regardless of ability to pay. To further this mission, Callen-Lorde promotes health education and wellness, and advocates for LGBTQ+ health issues.

    About the Role:

The Manager of Annual Giving will direct and oversee all aspects of Callen-Lorde’s annual fund, including direct mail, digital giving, and peer-to-peer programs. This role is responsible for the full donor lifecycle—acquisition, retention, and upgrades—ensuring a robust pipeline for mid-level and major gifts.

The ideal candidate is a persuasive storyteller who can leverage data to optimize campaigns and build meaningful relationships with our diverse community of supporters.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Annual Fund Strategy & Execution

    • Direct all aspects of annual giving, including direct mail, online giving, and revenue tracking.
    • Draft compelling fundraising copy for appeals, emails, digital ads, and impact reports.
    • In partnership with the Managing Director of Individual Giving, re-envision Giving Societies and grow the monthly giving program.
    • Partner with Communications to ensure donor-centered storytelling aligns with institutional voice.
    • Manage relationships with direct mail and print vendors to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
    • Serve as the primary contact for general donation inquiries and initiate donor conversations regarding giving opportunities.

    Events-Based Annual Giving

    • Develop strategies to ensure repeat participation and recruitment for events.
    • Lead and optimize peer-to-peer strategy, providing coaching to participants to maximize revenue.
    • Collaborate with the Special Events team to ensure a positive, high-impact donor experience.

    Donor Acquisition, Retention & Upgrade

    • Execute strategies to acquire new donors and reactivate lapsed supporters (LYBUNT/SYBUNT) through personalized outreach.
    • Conduct wealth screenings and donor analysis to identify prospects for mid-level ($5k–$10k) or major giving ($10k+).
    • Create meaningful donor touchpoints throughout the year to deepen engagement.

    Data Analysis & Reporting

    • Set annual KPIs for revenue, retention, and digital performance.
    • Leverage CRM tools to manage segmentation and donor records in coordination with the Database Specialist.
    • Produce monthly and quarterly performance dashboards with actionable insights.

    Work Schedule:

This is a hybrid full-time position. Monday - Friday, 2-3 days remote with some evening hours for events.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
    • 3–5 years in annual giving, digital/direct response fundraising, or nonprofit development.
    • Demonstrated success managing multi-channel campaigns and achieving measurable growth.
    • Exceptional copywriting skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse LGBTQ+ and ally audiences.
    • Proficiency with donor CRM systems, digital fundraising platforms, and email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp).
    • Experience using segmentation and data analysis to inform fundraising strategy.

    Desired Characteristics

    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail.
    • Strong planning skills with a focus on meeting and exceeding revenue goals.
    • Deep commitment to community-based healthcare and the mission of Callen-Lorde.
    • Ability to work effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds and ensure communications are culturally appropriate.
    • A team player who is also comfortable working independently and "managing up" when necessary.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission of Callen-Lorde, with a focus on providing patient-centered care and serving diverse populations.
