    Description

    The California Center for Movement Legal Services provides legal services in the pursuit of improving the lives of California's traditionally underserved residents, including communities of color, low-income and working families, and undocumented people, by carrying out legal work that fosters relationships with community organizers. Movement Legal provides essential legal services to tenants across the State; our Oakland-based team focuses on policy and affirmative litigation, while our Los Angeles team provides eviction defense services.

    TITLE: Operations and Analytics Coordinator

    SALARY: $54-58k or commensurate with experience

    HOURS: 36 hours per week

    LOCATION: Oakland, CA

    CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time Exempt

    BENEFITS: Medical, dental, vision and life insurance and $500 employer contribution to a health savings account; retirement 401(k) program with 8% employer contribution

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in the social sciences (sociology, economics, political sciences, statistics or related field)
    • Passion for social justice work
    • Experience manipulating quantitative data using Excel. Ability to efficiently problem-solve issues regarding financials and quantitative data.

    PREFERRED SKILLS:

    • Experience working with or as a community organizer.
    • Familiarity with California non-profit sector and funding landscape.
    • Experience using legal servers (Clio, Legal Server…).

    JOB DESCRIPTION: The Operations and Analytics Coordinator is a key pillar of the organization. In collaboration with the Executive Director, accountant and HR team, they ensure operations run smoothly. In collaboration with litigation staff and the Development Coordinator, they oversee the organization’s data collection process. Ideal candidates demonstrate a strong ability to think through quantitative issues, take the lead when problem-solving, while continuously communicating with other team-members.

    DUTIES:

    Financial Management

    • Manage expense tracking for the organization (receipt collection, check and deposit tracking, subscription tracking…)
    • Coordinate with accountant on general accounting, invoicing for grants, expense tracking.
    • Assist Executive Director on budget creation and financial projections.
    • Maintain records of organization’s financial policies.

    Grant Application & Reporting

    • Lead and execute application and reporting for government grants.
    • Assist Development Coordinator with financial and administrative requirements for grant applications.
    • Manage invoicing for grant contract agreements.

    Data Management

    • Ensure data collection practices are uniform across the organization.
    • Produce reports as needed for grant reporting, applications, policy reports and communications.
    • Collaborate with Executive Director, Directing Attorneys and Development Coordinator with data collection and analysis needs.
    • Strategize use of organization’s data for outward-facing advocacy and inward-facing operational needs.

    Administrative and General Operations

    • Maintain records of administrative policies, strategize on updating organization-wide operational practices.
    • Manage operations for annual Tenant Lawyer Network, assist with other event planning as needed.
    • Manage bookings and travel plans for employees as needed. Purchase office supplies and technology for employees as needed.
    • Maintain records of mail.
    • Maintain records of brokers and vendors.
    • Coordinate interaction between HR vendors (benefits providers, insurance broker, payroll provider, HR consultant, 401k provider…).
    • Assist Executive Director with maintaining HR policies (employee handbook, vacation policies, employee reviews…)
    • Communicate with HR consultant about changes affecting payroll and HR policies.
