    About ACPMP

The Appendix Cancer PMP Research Foundation (ACPMP) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to funding research, advancing education, supporting patients and caregivers, and raising awareness of appendix cancer and pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP). As a small, mission-driven organization, every team member plays an important role in expanding our impact and better serving the rare cancer community.

    Position Summary

The Program and Communications Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and executing ACPMP's communications across multiple channels. Working closely with the Executive Director, Operations Manager, and external communications partners, this position develops engaging content, manages communications projects, and helps ensure consistent messaging across the organization's website, email marketing, social media, fundraising campaigns, educational initiatives, and awareness programs.

As ACPMP's primary internal communications lead, the Program and Communications Coordinator collaborates with external partners responsible for public relations, website management, graphic design, and social media implementation to ensure communications are accurate, timely, and aligned with the organization's mission and brand.

As a small nonprofit organization, this role is both strategic and hands-on. The Program and Communications Coordinator will manage projects while also creating content, coordinating vendors, and supporting day-to-day communications needs.

    • Ensure consistent messaging, branding, and voice across all communication channels.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop educational and patient-facing content.
    • Review communications and marketing materials for accuracy, consistency, and brand alignment.
    • Coordinate website content updates with ACPMP's website partner to ensure information remains current, accurate, and user-friendly.
    • Develop email marketing content and coordinate campaign distribution through the organization's email marketing platform.
    • Develop messaging, content, and creative direction for external partners managing social media while monitoring engagement and identifying opportunities to expand reach and impact.
    • Coordinate updates to YouTube, Linktree, Google Business Profile, and other digital communication platforms.
    • Apply basic SEO best practices to website content to improve visibility and accessibility.
    • Monitor website, email, and social media performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve engagement and effectiveness.

    Campaigns & Project Management

    • Develop and execute communications plans for fundraising campaigns, educational programming, Appendix Cancer Awareness Month, Giving Tuesday, the June Walk, conferences, and other organizational initiatives.
    • Manage communications projects from planning through execution, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and messaging remain aligned with organizational priorities.
    • Coordinate promotional materials with internal stakeholders and external communications partners.
    • Support conference and event communications, including promotional materials, presentations, attendee communications, and post-event content.
    • Maintain project timelines and editorial calendars to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met.

    Collaboration & Organizational Support

    • Work closely with the Executive Director and Operations Manager to support organizational priorities through strategic communications.
    • Collaborate with board members, volunteers, external communications partners, and subject matter experts to develop accurate, engaging, and mission-driven content.
    • Recommend improvements to communications processes and workflows that enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Serve as ACPMP's primary internal communications lead, ensuring communications remain accurate, timely, and aligned with the organization's mission, brand, and strategic priorities.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
    • Three or more years of experience in communications, marketing, nonprofit communications, or content management.
    • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience managing communications projects involving multiple stakeholders and external partners.
    • Experience with email marketing platforms, content management systems, website content management, and social media best practices.

    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a remote environment.
    • Experience with Canva or similar design tools preferred; professional graphic design experience is not required.
    • Experience using AI-assisted writing and productivity tools is a plus.
