    JOIN THE QUEST

    Development Director

    INVEST • RESTORE • INSPIRE

The Augusta Colonial Theater stands at a meaningful moment in its long journey — a story

shaped by periods of abandonment, neglect, restoration, and renewal. This 1913 landmark,

located in Maine’s capital city of Augusta, has endured decades of challenges, yet continues

to move steadily toward its future as a vibrant arts and cultural center. The care and

commitment already invested reflect the community’s dedication and optimism for what

    comes next.

As we set the stage for ACT II, we are seeking a visionary Development Director to champion

the next phase of The Quest — ensuring the financial strength, philanthropic momentum, and

community partnerships needed to bring this historic treasure fully back to life.

    The Role

Reporting directly to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, the Development

Director leads all development activities including donor cultivation, major gifts, corporate

sponsorships, grant writing, fundraising events, and stewardship of an ongoing Capital

Campaign. This role will lead the campaign to raise 15–20 million dollars needed to complete

the restoration and expansion of the theater.

    What You’ll Lead

    • Drive comprehensive fundraising strategies supporting operations and long-term

    sustainability.

    • Cultivate major gifts, steward donor relationships, and expand the donor pipeline.
    • Partner with the Capital Campaign Committee to advance campaign goals and visibility.
    • Represent the organization in the community and strengthen partnerships.
    • Oversee grants, donor data, communications, and Board engagement in fundraising.

    What You Bring

    • Passion for the arts, community revitalization, and mission-driven fundraising.
    • Experience in nonprofit development, major gifts, and grant writing.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
    • Familiarity with donor management tools such as Kindsight or Bloomerang.
    • Experience leading multi-million dollar fundraising campaigns.

    Why This Moment Matters

The Colonial Theater is poised for transformation — a restored 1,000-seat theater and cultural

center that will revitalize downtown Augusta and inspire generations to come.
