ABOUT SEIU LOCAL 509
SEIU Local 509 is a fast-growing, progressive union representing over 28,000 state workers, human service workers, higher education faculty and family child care providers in Massachusetts. This position is part of the Local’s admin department. In the current political environment, the union has a steadfast vision to increase participation and power among its rank-and-file membership.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Anchor contract expirations, strike and ratification notices with internal organizing team and appropriate contacts
Edit, maintain, produce and distribute contracts with external organizing team and communications team
Coordinate logistics for all offsite meeting including rooms, meals, travel and materials
Interface with post office regarding various needs including P.O Box, postage machine and meter updates
Maintain phone system, copiers, stationery, and supply vendor and repair contacts
Assist Director of Admin with computer, zoom, and phone ordering, tracking and distribution
Prepare, maintain and track large event equipment: speakers, bullhorns, materials
Maintain admin storage closet including translation equipment
Mail and track MARC and organizing team letters
Track and document credit card activities
Provide reception coverage when applicable
Other administrative duties as needed
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
This position is supervised by the Director of Administration
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to be flexible and balance several projects simultaneously
Proficiency in Microsoft andGoogle Suite; Adobe Acrobat
Ability to communicate well and function across the sectors and departments of the union including staff, members, officers, vendors, and visitors
Openness to learning new systems
Attention to detail and grammar; Bilingual Spanish skills a plus
COMPENSATION, BENEFITS & LOCATION
This is a full-time bargaining unit position based in Marlborough, MA with regular hours of Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm, and occasional evening/weekend assignments.
As of 1/1/26, the salary range for this position is $76,777.28 - $87,522.68 depending on experience. Benefits include, at no cost to the employee: health insurance with FSA and HRA, dental insurance, short and long-term disability, a pension, an optional 401k, and generous paid time off.
Must have a driver's license, vehicle registration, and/or intent to purchase a vehicle. Our main office is located in Marlborough, MA.
