    Description

    MoMath is seeking an energetic, responsible, experienced individual to manage its retail operations (Additions, the shop at MoMath), comprising both the physical retail space in the Museum and its related e-commerce outlet.

    This position has broad responsibility for the Museum’s retail program, including: staffing, training, and employee development for retail staff; overseeing sales and customer service policies and operating procedures; making product development and buying recommendations; shipping and receiving; visual display of merchandise; and all external retail initiatives, including sales at conferences.

    The Senior Retail Manager’s goal is to develop and manage the overall retail effort to generate sufficient profit to make a meaningful contribution to the support of the Museum’s overall mission.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Driving sales, profit margin, and inventory turnover by analyzing and recommending replenishment strategies and supporting supply chain optimization.
    • Building out planning functions with a focus on improving inventory flow.
    • Analyzing sales performance and stock levels for key categories.
    • Forecasting new product launches; developing a deep understanding of the market, our customer base, and past launch performance.
    • Analyzing previous quarter results to determine missed growth opportunities.
    • Providing updates on forecasting trends and highlighting products that exceed or fall short of expectation.
    • Overseeing replenishment by SKU, maintaining an efficient inventory flow with set inventory turns, and service-level key performance indicators.
    • Managing operations, including open/close, shipping, and receiving.
    • Training and development of staff.
    • Providing customer service to ensure the highest level of service to all patrons.
    • Merchandising and visual presentation of products.

    Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of experience in retail management, including staff supervision.
    • The ability to adapt to new systems, including but not limited to: POS, order management, and data analytics.
    • Advanced knowledge of financial measurements, sales, gross margin, inventory turn, weeks of supply and how to impact them.
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
    • An obsession with efficiency and accuracy.
    • Familiarity with POS systems and practices.
    • A desire to help enhance public understanding and perception of mathematics.
    • Ability to work in an active retail location.
    • Willingness and ability to work a regular Sunday through Thursday schedule with the flexibility to cover special events/special hours and some evenings as needed.
    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Experience with museum and/or high-end retail is preferred.

    The pay rate is $24.00 to $26.00 per hour.
