    Description

    Security Council Report (SCR) seeks a skilled and motivated Operations Coordinator who can thrive in a collegial and fast-paced environment at a nimble and mission-driven nonprofit. Candidates must be passionate about improving internal processes to support the organization’s work on international peace and security. The Operations Coordinator will work directly with the senior leadership team of the nonprofit and will become familiar with the activities of the UN Security Council. The person selected for this role will have a direct impact on the capacity development of SCR as we build for the next 20 years.

    The Operations Coordinator reports to SCR’s Chief Operating Officer and works closely with the Development and Outreach Manager.

    This role is critical for the day-to-day operations of the nonprofit organization, including financial operations, human resources, grants reporting, and site management. Ideally, the Operations Coordinator should have a passion for process improvement and innovation, identifying opportunities for system and technology improvement and leading their implementation. The Operations Coordinator must have a high level of attention to detail to simultaneously execute critical nonprofit operations while building for the future.

    Major responsibilities include:

    • Coordinate day-to-day financial operations, including processing accounts payable and receivable and maintaining accurate records.
    • Monitor organizational cash flow and expenditures and prepare regular financial and expense reports for management.
    • Support grant administration and financial reporting, including preparing documentation for audits and donor reporting requirements.
    • Coordinate payroll processing and ensure that updates to employee benefits and compensation are accurately reflected in payroll.
    • Maintain HR records and support the implementation and periodic review of HR policies and procedures.
    • Track employee leave and assist with other routine HR administrative processes.
    • Coordinate office operations, including facilities and site management, vendor relationships, and logistical support for the organization’s activities.
    • Assist the Development and Outreach Manager in maintaining donor relationship management systems.
    • Perform other administrative and operational tasks as needed.

    Skills and Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have the following:

    • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field.
    • 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in a finance/administrative/operational role. Nonprofit experience is preferred.
    • Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software is required.
    • Exceptional planning and organizational skills, with the ability to set up internal controls.
    • A strong track record of quickly identifying and solving operational challenges.
    • Steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team.
    • Patience and a sense of humor.
