    Description

    Communications & Development Coordinator

A focused, high-impact role in communications, generosity, and gratitude.

    HOURS 5 hours/week

    PAY $30/hour

    STATUS Part-time, non-exempt

    LOCATION Walpole, MA / flexible

United Church in Walpole, a vibrant and inclusive congregation southwest of Boston, is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Communications & Development Coordinator. This highly focused role turns ministry content into polished communications and helps ensure that stewardship, fundraising, and donor gratitude happen consistently and well.

We are looking for someone who can move confidently between words and visuals: a strong editor who also knows how to organize information for email, print, web, and screen. Because the position is only five hours per week, success depends on excellent judgment, efficient systems, strong templates, and comfort using contemporary technology—including appropriate AI tools—to work smart.

    What You’ll Do

    • Produce and proofread recurring weekly worship and congregational communications.
    • Create and adapt visual and digital presentation materials using established templates and branding.
    • Format the church’s e-newsletter and selected congregational emails.
    • Update priority website/event content and create simple graphics and promotional materials.
    • Coordinate communications for annual stewardship and special fundraising campaigns.
    • Prepare gift acknowledgements and donor thank-you correspondence and maintain reliable gratitude/follow-up systems.
    • Use templates, automation, and appropriate AI tools to make recurring work efficient without sacrificing accuracy or human judgment.

You Might Be a Great Fit If

    • You are an excellent proofreader and a clear, warm writer.
    • You have strong visual judgment and know how to make information attractive, readable, and easy to follow.
    • You are comfortable creating presentation materials for screens—not just documents for print.
    • You are comfortable with tools such as Canva, PowerPoint or comparable presentation software, email platforms, websites, and AI-assisted workflows.
    • You can manage recurring weekly deadlines independently and make smart choices about priorities within limited hours.
    • Experience in communications, development/fundraising administration, nonprofit/church work, marketing, publishing, design, or a related field is helpful.
