This is a leadership position ideal for a seasoned early childhood program director looking to move to a new state-of-the-art facility

    Our Mission

At the Children’s Center, our mission is to provide high-quality, educational childcare for children of working parents in a safe and supportive environment. We prepare children for success in school while fostering a foundation for lifelong learning.

We are deeply committed to creating a socio-economically diverse environment that reflects our greater community. By ensuring that children from families without sufficient economic means can attend, we strengthen not only the lives of the children we serve, but our entire community.

    About the Role

The Assistant Executive Director plays a vital leadership role in supporting daily operations, mentoring teaching staff, ensuring strong curriculum implementation (including UPK), and maintaining a safe, engaging environment for children from infancy through school age.

You will work closely with the Executive Director, teachers, families, and community partners to uphold our commitment to excellence, inclusion, and whole-child development.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Supporting center leadership and stepping in as needed
    • Hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and evaluating teaching staff
    • Partnering with teachers to implement meaningful curriculum
    • Supporting licensing, inspections, and regulatory compliance
    • Building positive, respectful relationships with families
    • Collaborating with social workers, schools, and community agencies
    • Planning enrichment programs, field trips, and staff development opportunities
    • Maintaining smooth daily operations and classroom coverage

    Qualifications

    • BA in Early Childhood Education ( New York State Certification preferred)
    • Minimum 5 years classroom experience in early childhood (including infant care)
    • Supervisory experience required
    • Head Start training a plus
    • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
    • Commitment to collaboration, professionalism, and service

Occasional evening or weekend communication may be required to support staff and families.

    Why Join Us?

    • Be part of a mission-driven organization committed to educational equity
    • Support and mentor passionate educators
    • Help shape programs that impact children during their most formative years
    • Strengthen families and the broader community through your leadership
