    Description

About the Role: This Scope of Work (SOW) outlines the core services and deliverables required for a part-time financial consultant or fractional CFO to serve as the strategic financial partner for the National Collaborative for Health Equity (NCHE). NCHE is a project of the New Venture Fund (NVF), which serves as our fiscal sponsor.

We are seeking a dedicated accountant to act as a liaison between NCHE and NVF’s accounting systems. The ideal firm will help us build multi-year budgets, strategize grant spend-downs, and proactively manage complex personnel allocations across our various funding streams.

    Core Services & Deliverables:

    • Strategic Grant & Organizational Budgeting: Build, maintain, and update grant-specific and multi-year organizational budget planners. Map out and advise on spend-down strategies, including during no-cost extension periods.
    • Complex Personnel Costing: Calculate staffing scenarios, track vacancies, and manage shifting personnel allocations across multiple grants to ensure optimized funding utilization.
    • Reconciliations & Reclassifications: Reconcile NVF’s monthly financial statements with NCHE’s internal strategic budgets. Identify variances and initiate reclassifications to ensure NVF's chart of accounts accurately reflects NCHE's operations. Conduct monthly alignment with funder budgets to monitor variances between line items and track spend-down progress.
    • Funder Reporting: Prepare customized financial reports for major funders.

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    • 10–15 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, and/or providing fractional CFO services to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations.
    • Familiarity navigating portal systems of large fiscal sponsors (experience with New Venture Fund or Arabella Advisors is highly preferred).
    • Direct experience using Google Workspace (G Suite) tools, specifically advanced proficiency in Google Sheets for financial modeling, as well as Google Drive and Google Docs.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences and leadership teams.
    • Consultant must be able to provide all necessary IRS tax documentation and comply with all applicable U.S. federal and state regulations regarding 501(c)(3) operations. (Note: As NCHE operates under a tax-exempt fiscal sponsor, this role strictly prohibits lobbying, political activity, or fundraising counseling).
