    Description

    Organized Power In Numbers (OPIN) works at the intersection of worker power and modern digital and data-driven organizing to help our movements reach millions of people, invite them into movement, and level up campaigns that win for workers, their families, and their communities. We utilize online and offline base building and organizing strategies, comprehensive campaigns, strategic litigation and communications, and policy advocacy to win concrete demands that improve the conditions of workers’ lives and promote civic engagement at the local, state, and national levels. In addition to running our own campaigns, we act as a public utility to power the campaigns and outreach efforts of others, supporting partners with lead generation, campaign strategy, and the implementation of outreach and organizing.

    OPIN is a national organization and travel is required for all employees including for remote and regional positions.

    The Deputy Director of Finance and Human Resources is an exempt full-time position within the Development, Finance, Operations, and Human Resources Department (DFO-HR). This position will be based remotely. This position will work closely with and be directly supervised by the Managing Director, and will also work closely with other Department Directors.

    Salary: $85,000-$95,000, depending on experience

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Department Leadership
      • Collaborate with Senior Level Management in the development of strategic goals, and long-term operational plans
      • Manage operational, financial and human resource procedures, policies and recommend changes based on the organization's needs and regular compliance
      • Coordinate with fiscal sponsors to maintain accurate, compliant, and up to date information, policies, procedures related to human resources, operations, and finance including but not limited to hiring, benefits, end of employment; timely execution of reporting, flow of funds, and other coordinated tasks as needed
    • Finance
      • Track, analyze, and report on financial performance (income and expenses), including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements
      • Monitor cash flow and maintain accurate financial records for audits, including appropriate coding of all expenses
      • Review and approve all expenses, including reimbursements and purchase requests and communicate with department directors and other staff as needed in order to maintain accurate records
      • Reconcile financial reports from fiscal sponsor in order to maintain accurate and up to date assessment of organization’s fiscal health
      • Draft organizational MOUs and contracts and lead on contractor onboarding, invoicing, and communication about payments
      • Recognize patterns in organization spending, revenue, and recommend solutions to any problem areas
      • Execute annual budgeting process in collaboration with Managing Director, as well as any needed revisions throughout the year, and assist with other budget creation as needed
    • Human Resources
      • Update and implement all necessary operational, human resource and financial policies
      • Act as a trusted resource for employees, handling questions, concerns, and conflicts in a fair and confidential manner
      • Provide administrative and personnel related support to staff as needed, including processing requests, evaluations, PTO and comp time tracking, personnel records, coordinating required trainings, serving as a resource about benefits, and other necessary tasks
      • Coordinate with Directors and Managers for hiring, onboarding, end of employment, evaluations, progressive discipline, improvement plans, changes of title or job descriptions, promotion and other personnel related matters
      • When and where necessary, communicate with the Union that represents the bargaining unit employees
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications and Skills:

    • Google G-Suite experience preferred
    • 4 + years of work experience in a complex administration, non-profit or finance environment
    • Strong work ethic and ability to organize, multitask and prioritize tasks
    • Skilled with a spreadsheet, data-savvy, and comfortable with technology
    • Must have excellent time management and be able to meet tight deadlines
    • Able to coordinate work in different time zones (Pacific, Mountain, Central and Eastern Time Zones)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
    • Problem-solving and decision making skills
    • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
    • Strong interpersonal skills
