Organization
Baltimore Community Foundation (BCF) is a philanthropic foundation created by and for the
people of Greater Baltimore, where donors join to make the city and region a better place, today
and for future generations. With assets over $350 million and more than 950 charitable funds,
BCF has granted nearly $800 million since its inception in 1972 and is one of the Baltimore region’s
top foundations. Accredited by the Council on Foundation’s National Standards for U.S.
Community Foundations, BCF partners with philanthropic individuals, families and companies
to direct more than 5,000 gifts and grants each year to support a wide range of issues affecting
the Baltimore region. With a team of less than 25 core staff members, BCF’s is a small team that
embraces reliability, hard work, fun and accountability.
Over the last several years, BCF has doubled its assets under management and has elevated its
role as one of the region’s most prominent civic leaders, grantors and impact investors. In
anticipation of the launch of its new strategic direction in 2027, BCF is poised for greater growth
and impact to leverage a community of passionate donors and changemakers working to build
a better Baltimore.
Position
The Mission Investing Officer will report to the President/CEO and work across
departments. The Mission Investing Officer will play a central role in implementing and
monitoring an effective impact investing program; working with other departments and
external partners to develop impact investing recommendations to the President/CEO and
governance bodies; and working across the organization to develop impact frameworks
and reports for BCF’s impact investing, discretionary grantmaking and related areas. The
success of this role requires knowledge of financial due diligence and deal structuring,
social impact frameworks, strong technical skills, good judgement and effective written and
oral communication.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $125,000 annually
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Classification: Full-time, Exempt (A part-time position or consulting role will
be considered.)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (minimum 3 days per week in-office)
Paid Time Off: 20 days annually for vacation, personal, and sick leave

Responsibilities
Implements BCF’s Invest for More program, including the lifecycle of deals in the portfolio
to assess and render financial due diligence, social impact evaluations, and impact
measurement and reporting;
Serves as project manager for the interdepartmental impact investing and learning and
insights workgroups, and their respective proceedings;
Supports the development of presentations and case studies related to Invest for More
as well as insights and reporting;
Assists in the maintenance and enhancement of internal data management systems,
project management tools, and client delivery templates;
Analyzes and aids in the production of impact reports based on both quantitative and
qualitative analysis across impact investing, discretionary grantmaking and related
work;
Helps to drive best practices and good decision-making in supporting the stewardship and
integrity of funds deployed by BCF;
Helps to staff BCF’s impact investing subcommittee, including preparing docket materials,
recommendations, and reports for its review;
Seeks new opportunities to enhance a strong impact investing pipeline;
Works across departments to help frame the case for support for BCF’s impact in
Baltimore;
Attends and networks at external meetings and events, at times outside of regular
business hours, that provide opportunities for personal interaction with impact
investing projects and stakeholders;
Supports the general administrative needs of learning, reporting and impact investing;
Other duties as assigned by the President & CEO.
Qualifications
Minimum five years of success implementing a comparable portfolio;
Excellent quantitative and qualitative skills;
An understanding of the local market and relevant sectors such as community
development, finance, real estate, etc.;
Experience in structuring and monitoring direct loans or equity investments is required;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Interest or experience in working in an environment that emphasizes high accountability,
hard work and good decision-making;
Attention to detail;
Ability to manage people toward shared objectives and specific production goals;
Knowledge of Baltimore’s communities is strongly preferred;
Ability to plan and meet deadlines;
Participative work style; ability to give and receive feedback;
Mature interpersonal style; ability to interact calmly and discreetly with a diverse range of
people and perspectives.
