    Description:

    The Mobile Meals Coordinator's primary responsibility is to administer mobile Afterschool & Summer Meals through the Child and Adult Care Food Program and Summer Food Service Program at several stops in Fairfax, County VA. This program operates out of a school bus that has been retrofitted with a kitchenette and diner style seating. The Coordinator is responsible for physically loading and unloading the bus with meals, preparing for and supervising meal service, completing meal reports using our digital point of service system, and leading recreational and educational activities. The Coordinator will also have the opportunity to provide strategic insight into outreach and logistics to most effectively reach the community. This role will require approximately 8 hours per day Monday-Friday with anticipated hours from 12:00-8:00 PM. Hours and days are subject to change in response to community participation and school closures/holidays. This role is a great fit for someone with childcare experience who wants to be out in the community interacting with people every day.

    Essential Functions:

    Program Administration

    • Provide strategic insight into outreach and integration of the bus into the community
    • Receive meals onsite from our vendor and transfer to the bus
    • Train and supervise volunteers daily
    • Plate and serve meals for children in accordance with CACFP & SFSP guidelines, alongside set up and break down
    • Complete and enter daily reports into Link2Feed, our digital point of service system
    • Plan and lead recreational activities for children ages 5-18, primarily elementary aged
    • Maintain condition of the bus, cleaning daily and reporting any maintenance concerns to the Director of Family Government Nutrition Programs
    • Build relationships with community members

    Miscellaneous

    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Must be enrolled in a college degree program, completed college degree program, or have equivalent work experience
    • Must have reliable transportation
    • Conversationally fluent in Spanish required
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ability to use a database system, and attention to detail
    • Experience with youth development programs preferred

    Schedule:

    • This is an in-person role based in Lorton, VA and requires approximately 8-hour shifts Monday–Friday, with anticipated hours of 12:00 PM–8:00 PM.
    • Hours and days may vary based on community participation, program needs, school closures, or holidays.
    • Staff typically begin the day with administrative preparation, meal set up, and loading activities before volunteers arrive around 2:30 PM. The Mobile Meals bus generally departs for community sites between 3:30–4:00 PM and returns to Lorton around 7:30 PM, followed by daily clean up and closeout procedures.
