    About Minds Matter Boston

    Minds Matter Boston (MMB) is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to connect driven and determined students from low-income families with the people, preparation, and possibilities to succeed in college, create their future, and change the world. For the last 15+ years, every Minds Matter Boston graduate has gained admission to a 4-year college, and 97% of alumni are still enrolled or have graduated from a 4-year college.

    Position Overview

    The College Success Coach is responsible for supporting students through their transition to and persistence in college.

    This role manages a cohort of college students primarily in their first or second year and provides consistent, structured support through 1:1 coaching and cohort-based programming.

    This is a highly student-facing, execution-focused role ideal for someone who is organized, relationship-driven, and passionate about supporting first-generation and low-income college students. The College Success Coach reports to the Associate Director (AD) of College and Career Success.

    Responsibilities

    Program Management

    • Execute on core program touchpoints across the academic year including 1:1 meetings and Cohort (small group) workshops
    • Monitor student engagement across program requirements
    • Support internal reporting needs by maintaining organized records and documentation
    • Meet with the AD to ensure strong alignment and communication throughout a student’s experience in the program.

    Student Advising

    • Build strong, trusting relationships with students through consistent communication
    • In collaboration with the AD, provide individualized student support through 1:1 coaching meetings to support students in navigating academic, personal, and financial challenges.
    • Review key student materials (e.g., transcripts, enrollment verification) and flag concerns.

    Community Building

    • In collaboration with the AD, foster a sense of belonging and connection among students through cohort spaces.
    • Encourage active participation in CCS community platforms (e.g., GroupMe, WhatsApp, LinkedIn)
    • Reinforce CCS as a consistent and supportive community throughout students’ college experience

    Qualifications

    • 2-4 years work experience in educational or nonprofit settings
    • Ability to build relationships easily
    • Experience with or passion for serving diverse populations and students from low-income communities
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience managing tasks and timelines
    • Bachelor’s degree required

    Compensation & Hours

    • $19, 600 salary, dependent on qualifications and experience.
    • This is a part-time position expected to require approximately 10-15 hours per week on average, with some flexibility during peak programming periods.
    • This is a hybrid position. Additional details regarding remote and in-person expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
