    Description

    Are you a mission-driven leader with a bold vision for humanitarian impact and organizational growth? Humane Borders is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and strategic Executive Director to guide our work and expand our lifesaving mission along the U.S.–Mexico border.

    The Executive Director (ED) of Humane Borders is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission, operational excellence, strategic growth, financial sustainability, and community engagement.

    The ED manages daily operations and oversees staff, volunteers, and partners in delivering lifesaving humanitarian aid, expanding outreach and education, and strengthening organizational capacity. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this role requires a passionate leader with strategic vision, nonprofit management experience, and a deep commitment to humanitarian values and social justice.

    What We’re Looking For

      • Proven executive leadership experience — ideally within a mission-oriented nonprofit or related sector.
      • Degree(s) in business management, business and public administration, international studies, journalism, political science, law, and/or a related field
      • Track record in fundraising, revenue diversification, and donor stewardship.
      • Strong strategic thinker with operational acumen and financial literacy.
      • Excellent communicator and relationship builder; adept at public speaking and advocacy.
      • Passion for humanitarian work, border issues, and community engagement.
      • Ability to inspire, mentor, and lead a small but dedicated team.

    Preferred Qualifications

      • 5+ years' Experience with advocacy or service organizations focused on migration, human rights, or social justice.
      • Knowledge of the U.S.–Mexico border context and humanitarian dynamics.
      • Spanish language proficiency and knowledge of CRM (donor) systems preferred.
