    Description

    The Volunteers and Interns Coordinator supports the Volunteers and Internships Department by assisting with volunteer mentor recruitment, engagement, management, event coordination, evaluations, and data management. This role helps expand the department's capacity to recruit and retain volunteer mentors while advancing departmental goals.

    The Coordinator collaborates with staff across departments to support the recruitment, training, and ongoing management of volunteer mentors. This position also assists with planning and executing in-person and virtual events, maintaining volunteer and internship records, and supporting other initiatives within the Volunteers and Internships Department.

    To succeed in this role, you should be highly organized, creative, detail-oriented, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should also be passionate about L.O.V.E.'s mission of empowering women through education.

    Major Responsibilities

    • Build and strengthen relationships with colleges, universities, and volunteer mentors.
    • Represent and promote the L.O.V.E. Mentoring Program at colleges and universities throughout New York City through in-person and virtual events, including college fairs, tabling events, and information sessions.
    • Support volunteer mentor recruitment by conducting in-person and virtual informational sessions.
    • Help organize and promote mentor events, trainings, and engagement activities throughout the academic year.
    • Assist with the onboarding, training, and ongoing support of volunteer mentors.
    • Maintain accurate volunteer and intern records through timely data entry and database management.
    • Administer evaluations and assist in preparing reports on volunteer and internship programs.
    • Collaborate with other departments to support volunteer and internship initiatives.
    • Communicate regularly with the supervisor and participate in weekly check-ins.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Volunteers and Internships Department.

    Desired Knowledge and Skills

    • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Google Workspace, Slack, Salesforce, Mailchimp, and Canva.
    • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn about volunteer recruitment and engagement.
    • Interest in nonprofit management, education, psychology, sociology, youth development, or cross-cultural studies.
    • Commitment to providing excellent customer service and building positive relationships with volunteers, interns, and community partners.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Passion for L.O.V.E.'s mission of empowering women through education.
    • Experience working with diverse and under-resourced communities.
    • Ability to successfully pass a background check.
    • Availability to work 32 hours per week.

    Compensation

    $25–$28 per hour, commensurate with experience.
