    Description

    Vice President of Finance

    Location: Buena Park, CA

    Schedule: Monday–Friday (8-hour shift)

    Work Calendar: Year-round

    Status: Full-time, Exempt

    Compensation: $155,000 – $165,000 annually, depending on experience

    Linden Oaks is seeking a strategic and mission-driven Vice President of Finance to serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team.

    Reporting directly to the CEO, this role functions as the organization’s chief financial leader overseeing all financial operations while also providing strategic leadership across non-instructional departments including operations, transportation, facilities, and IT.

    What You’ll Do

    Financial Strategy & Leadership

    • Lead the development and management of the organization’s annual operating budget
    • Drive long-range financial planning, forecasting, and scenario modeling
    • Analyze financial, enrollment, and programmatic data to inform resource allocation
    • Ensure alignment between financial strategy and organizational priorities
    • Oversee all core finance functions including accounting, payroll, AP/AR, and internal controls
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and all state/federal regulatory requirements
    • Lead preparation and submission of required financial reports (FID, audits, disclosures, etc.)
    • Serve as primary liaison for internal and external audits
    • Oversee grant compliance, reporting, and funding accountability

    Cash Management, Investments & Capital Planning

    • Manage cash flow, investments, and fund balances
    • Oversee debt service, bond activity, and capital financing initiatives
    • Support funding strategies and financial growth initiatives
    • Manage investment portfolios and financial resources to support expansion

    Operations & Business Functions

    • Provide leadership across operations including facilities, transportation, IT, and risk management
    • Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and purchasing systems
    • Lead development and implementation of SOPs and operational systems
    • Ensure efficiency, compliance, and scalability across operational functions

    Leadership & Organizational Impact

    • Supervise and develop Business Office and operational staff
    • Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture across departments
    • Support collective bargaining with financial modeling and cost analysis
    • Present financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership and Board
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO on financial and operational strategy

    What You Bring

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
    • CPA (or willingness to obtain) strongly preferred
    • 10+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience with full P&L responsibility
    • 6+ years of senior leadership experience (Controller, Director, or similar)
    • Experience in nonprofit, education, or government-funded environments highly preferred
    • Strong understanding of nonprofit and/or education finance and compliance
    • Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities
    • Ability to interpret complex regulatory and financial frameworks
    • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
    • High level of integrity, discretion, and strategic thinking
