Description
Pedagogical leadership, polymath skills to implement a progressive child development program aiming to make a global impact. Think beyond Reggio, Montessori, Summerhill and Waldorf with good current + historical social science understanding of education in US and abroad. Profound understanding of cutting edge cross-cultural bridge-building approaches such as found in articles linked on South-East Asia Center's (SEAC’s) Website homepage. Understand pedagogical principles (0-12 years old) to articulate with scholarly gravitas yet inspiration to ECE teacher workshops, to legislators, and to funders progressive pedagogical building -bridges philosophy, strategies, methodologies. Able to update teacher/ parent manuals with statutory compliance and expressing SEAC building-bridges mission and pedagogical strategies. Able to observe and evaluate classrooms, understand teachers' front-line concerns/ hurdles and assist with maturity, sensitivity, and emotional insight along with creative use of pedagogical strategies. Assist in research for publication on issues of sociology and politics of education and cutting-edge pedagogical approaches as a global prescription for self-aware populations able to lead us all towards an equitable commonweal and peaceful planet. Roll-up-the-sleeves duties include writing, research, mastering regulations/laws relevant to employee/teachers'/parent manuals. Understand when, where, and how to invest/expand and to create educational efficiencies.
Requirements :
Ed.D./Ph.D. in ECE and elementary school education plus major coursework in behavioral /social or world history, e.g., degree in sociology of education, politics of education, history/ philosophy of education, or other such hybrids. At least 5 years supervisory experience and 5 years teaching experience with children and adults.
Compensation:
$65K to $80K depending on qualifications, experience, hourly or exempt status, etc. Generous PTO protocols. Health insurance 65% employer subsidized. Friendly and collegial work environment. Mid-size multiservice CBO.
