    Description

    The Major Gift Officer (MGO) will have an exciting and rewarding opportunity to help build CEC’s next phase of fundraising growth and ensure its long-term sustainability.

    This role includes conducting prospect research, developing tailored engagement and solicitation strategies, and stewarding donors throughout the full giving lifecycle. The MGO will collaborate closely with CEC’s leadership team and Board of Directors to coordinate and execute long-term fundraising strategies that support the organization’s strategic priorities and expand its impact in the education sector.

    While based remotely, the position requires travel to face-to-face donor meetings, community engagements, and fundraising events, as well as a presence at on-site CEC field work. The MGO should be comfortable representing CEC at events and engaging with a variety of stakeholders in relationship-building activities.

    This role oversees relationships through all stages of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. This leader will build an integrated, data-informed development program spanning:

    • Corporate and Financial Institutional Giving
    • Major Donors and Giving Societies
    • Foundation & Institutional Funding

    We are looking for someone who:

    • Builds authentic relationships with corporations, individual donors and philanthropic partners
    • Has experience cultivating and stewarding major gifts ($10K+ or similar level)
    • Is energized by mission-driven work focused on improving outcomes for students and schools
    • Enjoys working closely with senior leadership and board members on fundraising strategy
    • Brings a thoughtful, strategic approach to donor engagement and portfolio development
    • Thrives in a small, collaborative remote nonprofit environment
    • Cares deeply about education and long-term impact
