    Description

    We are a non-profit legal aid organization looking for a skilled, detail oriented, full-time Office Manager to support our mission behind the scenes by managing our office and performing a variety of finance and operations tasks. Responsibilities include operational support, paying bills, recording donations in QuickBooks, payroll, managing employee benefits, communicating with vendors, and maintaining the office space, technology, and equipment. While CARPLS has an overall hybrid work schedule, due to the special duties of the Office Manager this is a full time, in-office position with limited remote work allowed. Our office is located in downtown Chicago.

    CARPLS legal aid is Cook County’s largest provider of free

    legal services. We have provided over one million legal consultations to low-

    and moderate-income residents to help them find solutions to their everyday

    legal matters. CARPLS operates a legal aid hotline and three court-based advice

    desks for Cook County. We are also partners with the Cook County Legal Aid for

    Housing & Debt Early Resolution Program (ERP), and for our statewide

    projects, we are partners with New Leaf Illinois, the Illinois Armed Forces

    Legal Aid Network, COVID HELP Illinois and Eviction Help Illinois. Please visit

    Qualifications

      • 4+ years of working in a professional office environment required
      • Associate’s degree or administrative professional's certification required
      • Previous work experience with a small business or nonprofit preferred
      • Proficiency with QuickBooks software, including payroll, paying bills, and recording deposits
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
      • Comfortable learning new technology, applications and processes
      • Experience maintaining personnel files
      • Flexible, can-do approach, team player
      • Excellent communication skills including clear speaker, concise writer, and careful listener
      • Shows initiative and has strong troubleshooting skills and results-oriented approach to problems
      • Very well organized and attentive to detail
      • Understanding and enthusiasm for CARPLS’ mission.

    Compensation

    The annual salary is $66,000-$70,000 per year, depending on experience. Excellent benefits include 401K (with an employer match), health, optional vision and dental, life insurance, paid time off, paid parental leave, and pretax transit benefits.
