    ABOUT THE TEAM

    The Communications Department is responsible for overseeing the agency’s strategic communications and branding efforts. This includes the development of marketing materials, coordination of development initiatives, and management of both internal and external events. The department also leads the creation of video content, social media strategy and engagement, and the maintenance and optimization of the SEEC website.

    IN THIS ROLE, YOU'LL:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that advances SEEC’s mission, programs, advocacy priorities, and organizational goals.
    • Serve as steward of SEEC’s brand voice, visual identity, and messaging standards across all platforms and materials.
    • Oversee the creation and distribution of high-quality content, including newsletters, annual reports, website content, social media, press releases, advocacy materials, and presentations.
    • Lead internal communications strategy to support staff engagement, retention, organizational alignment, and change management.
    • Provide guidance on organizational messaging during sensitive, crisis, or time-sensitive situations.
    • Lead media relations efforts, including cultivating relationships with reporters and serving as organizational spokesperson as appropriate.

    Fundraising & Development Strategy:

    • Lead SEEC’s comprehensive fundraising strategy, including individual giving, major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, special events, and emerging revenue streams.
    • Collaborate with the CEO and Board to set annual and multi-year development goals, oversee Development Committee and track progress toward financial sustainability.
    • Oversee donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and acknowledgment practices to ensure meaningful and ethical engagement.
    • Supervise grant strategy and pipeline development in collaboration with grant staff, ensuring alignment with program capacity and strategic priorities.
    • Develop and oversee corporate sponsorship and partnership strategies, including financial and in-kind support, cause-marketing initiatives, and mission-aligned business collaborations.
    • Support diversification of revenue to reduce reliance on single funding sources and strengthen long-term financial resilience.

    Relationship Building & Partnerships:

    • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, foundations, corporate partners, community stakeholders, employers, and funders.
    • Work closely with Director of Partnerships and Employment Outreach Team to collaborate and serve as subject matter expert on relationship-based fundraising.
    • Support and collaborate with Board committees (e.g., Development Committee, Family Engagement Committee) as assigned.
    • Represent SEEC externally at community events, conferences, funder meetings, and public forums to advance visibility and partnerships.

    Team Leadership & Department Management:

    • Provide strategic leadership and direct supervision to Communications & Development staff, consultants, and vendors.
    • Establish clear goals, priorities, workflows, and performance expectations for the department.
    • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven team culture that reflects SEEC’s values.
    • Oversee department budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation in coordination with Finance and Executive Leadership.
    • Ensure departmental systems, processes, and documentation support efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    Organizational Leadership & Strategy:

    • Serve as a member of SEEC’s Executive Leadership Team, contributing to agency-wide planning, decision-making, and strategic initiatives.
    • Partner with program leaders to translate complex services and outcomes into clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences.
    • Use data and impact reporting to strengthen SEEC’s narrative and demonstrate outcomes to stakeholders.
    • Uphold SEEC’s mission, values, and commitment to equity, accessibility, and person-directed practices in all areas of work.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    ABOUT YOU

    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, public relations, development, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
    • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in communications, fundraising, or development, with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
    • Proven experience developing and executing integrated communications and fundraising strategies.
    • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex information into accessible, compelling content.
    • Demonstrated success in donor engagement, relationship management, and partnership development.
    • Experience supervising staff and managing cross-functional teams.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, and donor/CRM systems.
