    Description

    The Peer Mentor is a frontline, mission-driven role responsible for engaging, mentoring, and educating at-promise youth and justice-impacted individuals through presentations, group facilitation, and relationship-based support. Reporting to the Program Director, the Peer Mentor delivers program content inside facilities and community settings, serving as a trusted voice, role model, and bridge between lived experience and positive pathways forward.

    This role is ideal for someone who is justice-impacted or has deep experience working with justice-impacted youth and is passionate about prevention, reentry, mentorship, and personal transformation.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Learn, prepare, and deliver approved program curriculum and presentations in facilities and community settings
    • Facilitate workshops, group discussions, and interactive activities for at-promise and justice-impacted youth
    • Build authentic, trust-based relationships with participants through mentorship and consistent engagement
    • Share lived experience (when appropriate) to inspire, motivate, and connect with youth
    • Support youth in developing life skills related to decision-making, accountability, communication, and personal growth
    • Collaborate with the Program Director and program staff to ensure program impact
    • Assist with outreach, engagement, and retention of program participants
    • Maintain professional boundaries while offering trauma-informed support
    • Document participation, engagement, and outcomes as required
    • Participate in trainings, staff meetings, and program planning sessions
    • Represent I.E. REBOUND professionally when working in facilities, schools, and community environments
    • Adhere to all organizational policies, safety protocols, and facility guidelines
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Essential Job Requirements

    • High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate degree preferred but not required)
    • Lived experience with the justice system strongly preferred OR demonstrated experience working with justice-impacted or at-promise youth
    • Ability to speak confidently in front of groups and facilitate engaging presentations
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
    • Ability to connect with youth in a respectful, non-judgmental, and empowering manner
    • Willingness to learn curriculum and receive coaching on facilitation and delivery
    • Strong reliability, professionalism, and follow-through
    • Basic computer and documentation skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    Additional Requirements

    • TB Test
    • CPR and First Aid Certification (provided if needed)
    • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
    • Ability to pass facility clearance requirements (where applicable)
