The Fundraising Officer works in a highly-skilled team responsible for raising US$3,500,000 per year for the hospital from overseas donors. This role focuses on both international foundations as well as individuals and corporates. AHC's existing portfolio of international donors consists of both regular, repeat, and new givers from around the world who contribute to AHC’s mission to improve healthcare for children in Cambodia. This role supports the International Fundraising Team to engage new, existing, and lapsed donors with timely updates and facilitates conversations on renewing and increasing support. The Fundraising Officer closely supports programme and senior colleagues in building relationships with donors, tailoring individualized proposals, preparing reports, and planning for donor engagement activities such as hospital on site visits and tours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct donor prospecting, outreach, and relationship development with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners
- Support the development of high-quality concept notes, proposals and applications under the guidance of line manager and Fundraising Team leadership
- Assess donor capacity, interests, and engagement history to develop tailored stewardship and solicitation approaches
- Provide high-quality stewardship to donors and partners, ensuring they feel valued, informed, and connected to the impact of their support
- Coordinate donor engagement activities including meetings, visits, tours, and events in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders
- Work closely with Fundraising Team, medical and non-medical departments, Finance, and Communications to support donor appreciation, reporting, and proposal development
- Support targeted campaigns and appeals, including personalised approaches and matched-giving opportunities
- Track and document all donor and prospect interactions, actions, meetings, and commitments in Salesforce to ensure accurate records and effective follow-up
- Support other Fundraising Department functions as required and undertake other duties delegated by the line manager
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. business, marketing, communications, international development) or equivalent professional experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and compelling proposals, concept notes, and donor communications
- Solid research and analytical skills, with the ability to review large volumes of information, identify relevant insights, and make well-founded recommendations
- Ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships with donors and partners, with an understanding of different donor motivations and communication styles
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent planning, time management, and organisational abilities
- Highly motivated and able to work independently to agreed goals and targets
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and demonstrable experience of working with databases and CRMs (i.e. Salesforce) preferred
- Comfortable using LinkedIn to connect with other professionals
- Adaptable and flexible to the changing circumstances and needs of the role, including the flexibility of working hours to ensure coordination with key colleagues and donors in different locations and time zones.
