The Development Manager is responsible for partnering with the External Committee in fundraising and communication strategies and strengthening our individual donor base in the United States and Guatemala.
The core responsibility of the Development Manager will be to strengthen supporters’ relationship with the Kateri Tekakwitha Fund. The Development Manager will be in frequent communication with donors, continually trying to involve them more in our work.
Responsibilities
- Support the leadership of the External Committee in the creation of the Fundraising Strategy.
- Strengthen supporters’ relationship with Kateri Tekakwitha Fund, involving them more in the organization.
- Serve on the External Committee to develop strategies and proposals for potential donors and grants.
- Lead database management and donor segmentation: (Network for Good)
- Lead donor engagement
- Execute Communication Strategy with Mid-level/smaller donors.
- Support Content Creation: Revision and creation of stories for the Kateri Story bank/donor cultivation
- Coordinate the work of Guatemalan Communication Manager
- Support writing stories and necessary content for the newsletter, Blog and annual report
- Support in grants writing and revision
- Assess previous fundraising strategies and propose changes/brainstorm new fundraising venues as well as lead new ventures
This is a contract position based in the Bay Area and may include travel to Guatemala to visit Kateri Fund programs.
Salary: $35 per hour. The role is expected to begin at approximately 22 hours per month and expand as the Kateri Fund grows.
A period of orientation at the Kateri Fund office in Pacifica CA is required.

Experience
- 2 years of professional experience in nonprofit organizations and/or fundraising.
- Experience in project management.
- Degree in Communication, Marketing, Social Sciencesor related.
- Knowledge and experience with fundraising software.
Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written conceptualization, articulation and persuasion skills.
- Excellent interpersonal relationships with ethics and judgment with donors.
- Integrity and ability to inspire confidence.
- A spirit of collaboration and listening to others to incorporate their ideas into your
work.
- Knowledge of the Guatemalan Indigenous culture and experience
Language Proficiency
- English: Fluid both spoken and written
- Spanish: Fluid both spoken and written
