The Helping to Heal Foundation is seeking a motivated, articulate, passionate and experienced individual to manage the outreach and promotion of Patti Wood's extraordinary book for parents of children with life-threatening illnesses. (See www.Helping2Heal.org)
Background:
Caring for a seriously ill child is one of the greatest challenges of parenting. This is a time when a parent's natural instinct to nurture and protect may turn to feelings of helplessness and frustration while doctors and other health care professionals manage their child’s illness. One way to overcome these feelings is by becoming an active partner in a child’s healing process.
Patti Wood's highly acclaimed book, Helping to Heal, focuses on a child’s diet and environment – two important considerations that parents are best qualified to address. With guidance from recognized experts in the field of nutrition, the book offers some general guidelines for finding and choosing the most nutritious foods, as well as providing safe options for personal care and laundry products. The book also covers other critical issues from natural pest control and non-toxic home remodeling to water filters and EMF exposures.
The Outreach Coordinator Position
Under a unique distribution model, Helping to Heal is distributed at no cost to partner hospitals and support centers around the country. The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for maintaining liaison with these partners, handling correspondence, conducting outreach by telephone and email, and ensuring partners have adequate stock of the books.
The book is also available for individual purchase, and Outreach Coordinator is also responsible for promoting the book through media by placing articles and blurbs with magazines and newsletters, developing relationships with bloggers and podcasters, and arranging media interviews for Patti Wood.
This position requires experience in organizational outreach, facility with basic online database programs, some background in environmental health, a demonstrated passion for making a difference in people's lives, a compassionate and empathetic personality, and excellent written, oral communication, and organizational skills.
