    Description

    Our office is an intake center for all housing programs of the District of Columbia government, through the DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). We are seeking a housing counselor who will handle a full caseload of clients seeking to apply to various DC government housing programs.

    Job responsibilities include meeting with clients on a daily basis and assisting them with credit counseling, rental counseling and with completing applications for various first-time homebuyer programs, home rehabilitation programs, weatherization programs, and default mortgage programs. The counselor will be required to meet with and counsel a certain number of clients each week and submit a certain number of applications to housing programs each month. The counselor will review credit reports and provide credit counseling, budget counseling.

    The counselor will be responsible for attending meetings, both in-house and at city government agencies, conducting weekly workshops on zoom; maintaining orderly client files, writing up file activity, compiling data for reports and government monitoring visits, and for conducting weekly workshops. Must be able to maintain database and provide weekly/monthly reports. Must conduct outreach

    Counselors must become proficient in understanding programs offered, and be able to conduct financial analysis.

    Counselors must have a High School diploma at minimum. Preference for housing counseling experience or related field. Must be able to become a Certified Housing Counselor by passing a test within six months of employment. Significant plus if already a HUD-Certified Housing Counselor.

    Salary commensurate with experience.
