    Description

    Position Overview

    The MIT PKG Center for Social Impact is seeking a Program Assistant to support the Code.Tulsa: Igniting Tech Futures program. This role offers an opportunity to help design and facilitate a community-based learning experience for MIT students working with Native Nations and nonprofit partners in the Tulsa region.

    The Program Assistant will work closely with the Assistant Dean of Community Based Programs and collaborate with PKG Center staff, undergraduate student leaders, and community partners.

    Position Details

    Position Title: Code.Tulsa Program Assistant

    Department: MIT PKG Center for Social Impact

    Reports To: Assistant Dean of Community Based Programs

    Work Schedule: 10–12 hours per week (Hybrid: In-person & Remote)

    Compensation: $19 per hour

    Benefits: Earned Sick Time in compliance with Massachusetts State Law

    This is a temporary position with MIT.

    Start Date: Between April 15 – May 15, 2026

    End Date: Approximately September 30, 2026 (with possibility of continuation)

    Availability Requirements:

    • 4–6 evening hours per week required
    • Occasional weekend hours required
    • Preference for candidates available on Saturday mornings and scheduled evenings

    Location Requirement:

    • Candidates must live in or be based in the Tulsa, Oklahoma region during the duration of the position
    • This role includes in-person responsibilities supporting students and community partners in Tulsa

    About Code.Tulsa: Igniting Tech Futures

    During Summer 2026, a cohort of 10 MIT undergraduate students will:

    • Live at the University of Tulsa for the summer
    • Intern with Native Nations and local nonprofits
    • Support data science, AI, and coding projects
    • Help facilitate a week-long STEM bootcamp for high school students from federally recognized tribes
    • Learn about the historical and contemporary dynamics in the Tulsa region

    Code.Tulsa Program Assistant Responsibilities

    • Facilitate weekly reflection dinners
    • Plan and facilitate events and workshops
    • Liaise with Tulsa community partners
    • Support STEM bootcamp student leaders
    • Provide logistical support
    • Assist with risk management and documentation
    • Collect program data and evaluation
    • Gather participant quotes and communications materials
    • Assist with special projects and PKG Center initiatives

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Must have a Bachelor’s degree
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
    • Passion for public service

    Preferred:

    • Experience facilitating student programs
    • Experience with community engagement or service learning
    • Experience with community-based organizations
    • Experience with program evaluation
    • nterest in technology, AI, or STEM education

    Eligibility

    While MIT will not sponsor visas, applicants with non-immigrant status may be considered.
