    Description

    The Random Farms Kids' Theater is seeking an enthusiastic and strategic Development Director to help expand our fundraising efforts and strengthen our community of supporters. This position plays a key role in sustaining and growing the organization’s individual giving, grant funding, and outreach initiatives.

    This is a primarily remote position, with regular attendance required at events, performances, and meetings throughout the year.

    ABOUT THE COMPANY

    Random Farms is a not-for-profit organization that offers musical theater programming to young people from kindergarten through high school. The company was founded in 1995 and currently serves approximately 850 young people each year, with an annual operating budget of 1.9 million. It is staffed by 13 full time employees, 3 part-time employees, and several part-time contractors.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Development/Fundraising

    • Individual Giving
      • Oversee all gifts and donor relations
    • Major Gifts
      • Research, solicit, and cultivate significant donors
      • Manage donor benefits
    • Corporate Giving
      • Research, cultivate, and solicit corporate sponsors and small businesses
    • Grants
      • Research new grant opportunities and oversee grant applications
    • Outreach
      • Regularly attend performances to connect with our community, major donors, and prospects
      • Maintain relationships with community partners
      • Build volunteer committees in order to support fundraising and engage donors
    • Gala
      • Coordinate the annual gala alongside the Events Committee Chair(s)
      • Attend planning meetings and calls with Chair(s)
      • Conduct site visits to venue(s) as needed
      • Plan and oversee marketing schedule and edit and approve all marketing materials
      • Oversee all correspondence with guests and donors
      • Oversee ticket purchase and donation pages on website and Patron portal
      • Monitor and report on ticket purchases and donations along with performer and comp tickets
      • Oversee event check-in and check-out, including the processing of all in-room donations (raffle tickets and paddle raise donations)
    • Year End Appeal
      • Create and schedule annual appeal campaign
      • Work with staff to design the collateral materials and clean up mailing list
    • Other Events
      • Support the CEO, Board, staff, and/or volunteers with the planning and execution of any events throughout the year

    Marketing

    • Work with executive team on marketing strategy and oversee the implementation of the marketing plan
    • Proof all marketing materials

    Finance

    • Oversee the creation of the fundraising and development budget and collaborate with the Business Manager, Artistic Director, and CEO throughout the budget process
    • Coordinate and participate in quarterly income and expense reconciliation meetings
    • Work with Business Manager to reconcile incoming major gifts and other donations
    • Support Business Manager with audit prep as needed

    Administration

    • Collaborate with the CEO and Artistic Director on long-term strategic planning goals
    • Supervise Development Associate and Communications Manager
    • Support the CEO
    • Oversee the sale of merchandise and concessions
    • Attend quarterly board meetings and report on development and fundraising

    QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

    • 5 years of experience in nonprofit development or fundraising with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role
    • Demonstrated experience with donor relations, fundraising campaigns, and grant applications
    • Experience managing small teams or departments
    • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience with donor databases or CRM systems (specifically, Salesforce-based systems) preferred
    • Proficiency in Google Workspace Apps, especially Sheets
    • Comfort working in a small, collaborative nonprofit environment
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive donor information
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally with donors, staff, and board members
    • Interest in the arts, education, or youth programming is a plus
