    Position: Full Time Veterinary Assistant

    Job Responsibilities: As a Veterinary Assistant at Purrfect Pals, you will play a crucial role in providing quality veterinary care and support for our feline residents. Your responsibilities will include:

    • Assisting veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures.
    • Administering medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinary team.
    • Performing basic laboratory tests and sample collection for diagnostic purposes.
    • Preparing surgical suites, sterilizing equipment, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for procedures.
    • Monitoring and documenting vital signs, post-operative recovery, and any changes in health conditions.
    • Assisting with dental cleaning and other routine procedures.
    • Educating adopters and volunteers on basic veterinary care and preventive measures.
    • Maintaining accurate medical records and updating patient information in the database.
    • Collaborating with other team members to provide comprehensive care and support to our feline residents.

    Qualifications: To excel in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; formal veterinary assistant training or certification is a plus.
    • Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter is preferred.
    • Knowledge of basic veterinary medical procedures, including medication administration and sample collection.
    • Ability to handle animals with care and compassion, especially cats of various temperaments.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
    • Flexibility at working weekends, and holidays as needed.
    • Positive work ethics and good attendance is required.

    Conditions and Physical Requirements

    • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to reach or feel; climb, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch
    • Possible exposure to deceased, sick, injured, unruly, vicious and dangerous animals and frequent exposure to parasites and infectious diseases.
    • Exposure to dust, fumes or airborne particles, potentially toxic or caustic chemicals. Animal feces, zoonotic diseases (can be passed from animal to human), bites and scratches and blood borne pathogens
