We are seeking a dependable AV & Livestream Technician as an independent contractor to support our long-running weekly Sunday Platform featuring speakers, music, and community reflection.
The Sunday platform is a hybrid event, welcoming approximately 40-70 participants in person and 30-100 online. The technician plays a vital role in creating a calm, welcoming, and technically smooth experience for both in-person and remote participants.

Location: New York, NY (In-person)
Engagement Type: Independent Contractor
Compensation: $30–$40 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Sundays, approximately 9:00 AM – 1:30 PM
Duration: Ongoing weekly engagement
Scope of Work
- Set up and test audio equipment, including handheld and/or earset microphones and associated cabling
- Manage integrated in-room sound system during live program
- Setup and operate a projector, wireless video transmission equipment, A/V laptop, video switcher, and assist with PowerPoint/Keynote/Canva/Google Slides presentations and other audio/video content
- Set up, operate, and monitor a Zoom livestream and audience
- Operate a single DSLR video camera for the livestream
- Monitor audio and video quality and troubleshoot basic issues in real time
- Secure equipment after the event
- Coordinate respectfully with speakers, musicians, staff, and volunteers
- Maintain a reliable, professional presence during live programming
Qualifications
- Experience with audio, video, and livestream equipment and software
- Familiarity with presentation software (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva, Keynote, or similar)
- Comfort working independently in a live-event production environment
- Strong reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail
- Ability to work respectfully and in collaboration in a community-focused setting
- Availability on Sunday mornings and early afternoons
Preferred Experience
- Experience operating and managing livestream platforms and software (Zoom, YouTube, OBS, Vimeo, ECamm, etc.)
- Experience with live event production, including effective micing of speakers and musicians
- Experience supporting lectures, panel discussions, worship services, or community events
- Coursework or interest in event production, media production, communications, or live event technology
Independent Contractor Status
This position is offered as an independent contractor role. The contractor will:
- Invoice for hours worked
- Provide required tax documentation (e.g., W-9)
- Not be eligible for employee benefits
All on-site AV and livestream equipment will be provided by the organization.
