    Description

    Our organization is seeking an experienced, highly-motivated accountant who possesses a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience (nonprofit accounting experience preferred, but not essential).

    Responsibilities include:

    — Managing a part-time bookkeeper;

    — Ensuring timely disbursements to cover expenditures, and accurate recording of receivables in compliance with the organization’s internal controls policies;

    — Providing information to independent auditing firm for completion of annual audit and federal/state tax returns;

    — Preparing budgets and revenue/expense reports for WWP board review;

    — Completing state nonprofit registration forms, local tax abatement applications, and other required federal/state/local government filings;

    — Initiating payments to a 403(b) employee benefits plan and overseeing employee payroll;

    — Monitoring endowment fund and other investment account performances;

    — Preparing cash flow statements and financial reports;

    — Completing monthly reconciliation of credit card and balance statements;

    — Making deposits/transfers and recording them in a general ledger;

    — Developing budgets for special projects, foundation grants, and general operations.

    The successful candidate will excel in accurate financial record keeping and in meeting deadlines; will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; will remain current on federal/state law with regard to nonprofit accounting standards and best practices; and will have demonstrated success in a strong collaborative setting.

    Annual salary is $56,000 based on a 24-hour work week with a minimum of 16 hours on site.
