Description
Pullen seeks a dedicated and compassionate community connector who will help enhance our commitment to social justice by partnering with outreach organizations and people within and outside the church. This role combines coordination and hands-on service. The person hired for this role will support volunteers committed to Pullen’s social justice ministries and represent Pullen in the community and with partner organizations.
Hours: 15-20
Responsibilities
Plans, organizes, coordinates and supports various outreach programs such as Round Table Ministry, ministry with persons experiencing homelessness and other local ministries of the church; ensures the success of on-going programs; recruits and supports volunteers.
Serves as liaison and provides support to various internal Pullen groups such as Missions and Outreach, Earth Ministry, and Do Justice Group; ensures timely and effective communications with staff, group members and broader Pullen community; helps groups identify important issues and activities; helps groups focus on Pullen strategic plan; provides information regarding Pullen administrative processes and activities.
Provides liaison to and communicates back with Pullenites regarding issues and activities for groups such as Partners for Environmental Justice, One Wake, RUMAH;, and SIEMBRA; represents Pullen positively in the community and represents community needs to Pullen groups; helps organize Pullen participation in community activities such as marches.
Serves as Pullen contact for emergency assistance.
Coordinates with Pullen’s international partnerships.
Designs hands-on outreach activities that inspire spiritual reflection for Pullen members; keeps Pullen members informed of vital needs and opportunities for ministry in the community; enlists, trains, and supervises volunteers for various outreach and community ministries; identifies and coordinates opportunities to partner with other agencies on areas of mutual interest and concern; facilitates the generation of ideas for the improvement of current outreach programs and new outreach programs for Pullen to consider.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and experience in social justice organizing, nonprofit or governmental social work, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Theological education or ministry experience a bonus.
Level of Language Proficiency
English, Spanish is a plus
