    Description

    Position Overview

    The Cheshire Children’s Museum is seeking an energetic and creative Programs & Memberships Coordinator to lead the development of engaging experiences for children and families.

    This role is responsible for shaping the visitor experience through thoughtful programming, strong relationships with member families, and the ongoing activation of the museum’s interactive spaces. The Programs & Memberships Coordinator will help ensure the museum remains a vibrant and welcoming place where children and their families can explore, imagine, and learn through play.

    Working closely with the Executive Director and Communications & Marketing Coordinator, this role helps bring the museum’s mission to life through programs, partnerships, and community engagement.

    Key Responsibilities

    Programming & Visitor Experience

    • Design and coordinate a dynamic calendar of programs, workshops, and special events for children and families.
    • Develop hands-on experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and play-based learning.
    • Collaborate with the Communications & Marketing Coordinator to promote programs and activities.
    • Evaluate programs and adjust offerings to ensure they remain engaging and responsive to the community.

    Membership Engagement

    • Manage museum memberships and maintain relationships with member families.
    • Support strategies that encourage membership growth and retention.
    • Coordinate communications related to membership benefits and events.
    • Help ensure members feel welcomed and connected to the museum community.

    Exhibit Engagement

    • Support the care and activation of interactive exhibits.
    • Develop creative ways to bring exhibit spaces to life through programming and hands-on activities.
    • Work with staff and volunteers to maintain an inviting and dynamic environment throughout the museum.

    Community Partnerships

    • Strengthen partnerships with schools, early childhood programs, and community organizations.
    • Coordinate field trips and group visits.
    • Identify opportunities for collaborative programming with local partners.

    Shared Museum Operations

    As a small organization, you will be a regular part of daily operations for approximately 15hrs a week including:

      • welcoming guests
      • supporting point-of-sale operations
      • helping facilitate events
      • maintaining the museum environment

    Qualifications

      • Experience working with children ages 0–10
      • Interest in play-based learning and creative programming
      • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
      • Ability to collaborate effectively in a small team environment
      • Customer service or community engagement experience
      • Flexible schedule including occasional evenings or weekends

    Position Details

    • ¾ time position (approximately 30 hours per week)
    • Compensation: $18-20 per hour
      • This is a mission-driven role in a creative, community-centered environment, offering the opportunity to help shape programming and experiences for children and families in the Monadnock region.
