    Description

    Who We Are: The Wyckoff House & Association comprises the Wyckoff House Museum and Wyckoff Association. As the Wyckoff House Museum, we preserve, interpret, and operate New York’s oldest building and the surrounding one-and-a-half acres of park and urban farm space. Through innovative educational and farm-based programs, we build cultural and agricultural connections within our community, emphasizing immigration, family, food, and community through history.

    Position Responsibilities: What You’ll Do

    Manage Farm, Park Grounds, and Horticulture Operations (40%)

    • Manage seasonal farm operations, including seeding, dead-heading, pruning, harvesting, seed saving, and propagation of vegetables, annual flowers and native plants.
    • Oversee all aspects of horticulture operations including weeding, planting, irrigation, trellising, hoop house management, and cover cropping.
    • Supervise 2 part-time, seasonal farm team members, occasionally overseeing junior staff and volunteers
    • Oversee Community Composting collection and systems management

    Serve in support role for key farm and site operations (20%)

    • Assist Farm Coordinator with seasonal weekly Farm stand management
    • Communicate site, supplies, grounds, and animal care needs, including trash, maintenance, and pest management requests to Site Operations staff.
    • Maintain farm log and other farm-related documentation systems

    Educational Programming & Community Engagement - (35%)

    • Lead assigned farm rotations and occasional workshops during GAP program
    • Support museum-wide educational programming including, teaching some farm-based lessons and leading activities during family or large-scale museum events
    • Serve Saturday Site Supervisor as needed
    • Assist museum and program staff as needed

    Organizational Operations and Programming Support (5%)

    • Contribute to reporting and recording systems measuring program impact to support fundraising
    • Participate in staff meetings and team-wide collaboration

    Additionally, we are searching for candidates who possess the following knowledge, skills, and qualifications:

    • At least two years experience working in agriculture, urban farming, or garden settings, with preference given to those experienced with in-ground, raised bed, and greenhouse techniques.
    • leadership skills
    • Background in education, especially agricultural, environmental, or experiential education, and/or public programming.
    • Experience engaging with underrepresented communities (personal, lived experience or professional, work experience) or working in a diverse and non-traditional setting with a diverse client base.
    • Able to lift, pull, and push up to 40 lbs; embracing the physical nature of this work.
    • A valid NY state driver’s license.
    • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, required.
    • Passion for and knowledge of food sovereignty and food justice.
    • Carpentry, maintenance, or power tool operation experience.

    What Else you Should Know:

    This is a seasonal, part-time, hourly position based onsite at the Wyckoff House Museum in Brooklyn, from 28-35 hours per week from April to November 2026.

    Availability is required for at least two weekday mornings (Tuesday–Friday), and for Saturdays during events, volunteer days, and farm stands, primarily in the peak season. The starting pay ranges from $26 to $28 per hour.
