    Description

    ABOUT BOSTON IMPACT INITIATIVE (BII)

Boston Impact Initiative (BII) is a nonprofit impact investment fund founded in 2013 working to build a regenerative and equitable economy. We invest integrated capital—equity, debt and grants—in social enterprises and community-owned and controlled real estate to build wealth and asset-building opportunities, especially in diverse communities.

As a new Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), we currently manage two distinct funds:

    • BII Fund I: Established in 2017, deployed $6.9M across 50 enterprises
    • BII Fund II: Launched in 2022, raised $22M, invested $11M in 26 companies and real estate projects, and is actively raising/deploying capital to small businesses and community-governed real estate projects in Massachusetts and New England

BII also offers impact investing education and training. Through our Advancing Regenerative Capital (ARC) Fellowship, we have trained 90 fund managers from 38 organizations to launch community-based impact funds focused on expanding shared ownership and generational wealth in communities systematically excluded from economic opportunity. To date, 27 funds have launched that have deployed over $12M to diverse small businesses across the U.S.

BII has grown to 15 employees in 2025, with a $7M annual operating budget. As we deploy Fund II assets and expand the reach of our investing work, we seek an Impact Investing Associate who will play a significant role in BII’s capital allocation strategy. The Impact Investing Associate reports directly to the Investment Manager.

    POSITION SUMMARY

The Impact Investing Associate will play a central role in advancing Boston Impact Initiative’s capital deployment strategy at a pivotal moment of growth. This is an opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility early—supporting and leading transactions from initial sourcing through diligence, investment committee presentation, and closing.

Working closely with senior leadership, the Associate will evaluate and structure investments across debt, equity, and hybrid instruments, while also partnering directly with entrepreneurs and community stakeholders. Beyond transaction execution, this role contributes to portfolio management, impact measurement, and investor reporting—offering a uniquely holistic view of how capital can be deployed to drive both financial performance and community impact.

This role is well-suited for someone with strong analytical training who is seeking to apply their skills in a mission-driven environment, and who is motivated by the opportunity to grow into a lead investing role over time.
