    Description

    Greenlight America is a new organization that mobilizes grassroots power to win local siting and permitting campaigns for clean energy projects. We do this by partnering with local groups and activists to run strategic campaigns that win approval for clean energy projects in their communities. Our founding team has led some of the largest grassroots organizing networks in the country, and we are building a scalable model for engaging and mobilizing local residents in support of clean energy.

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    The People Operations Manager will play a crucial role managing and running the systems that power our employee experience. This role is responsible for day-to-day HR and operational tasks, ensuring smooth execution of HR processes and supporting staff across the employee lifecycle.

    A successful candidate for this position will have excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to think strategically, and a hands-on approach to managing day-to-day human resources. They will be adept at juggling multiple priorities and will possess a strong sense of initiative. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a nonprofit setting, a deep commitment to the mission of accelerating the clean energy transition, and a track record of successfully supporting organizational growth and development. They should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

    The position is remote and reports to the Senior People Operations Manager

    PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    People Operations

    • Serve as a trusted advisor to staff on HR matters, including benefits, policies, and employee questions.
    • Continuously enhance HR systems and administrative processes to improve efficiency and coordination between functions, such as HRIS optimization, workflow enhancements, and data cleanup.
    • Ensure accuracy of HRIS system(s) and maintain up-to-date employee records and documentation.
    • Maintain HR documentation, employee handbooks, and SOP (standard operating procedures) guides.
    • Support benefits administration with our PEO and ensure compliance with federal and multi-state employment regulations.
    • Partner with the Senior People Operations Manager to execute the performance review cycle, including scheduling, tracking, and reporting on completion and outcomes.
    • Support the Senior People Operations Manager in executing compensation processes, including tracking merit increases and promotions.
    • Assist in administering payroll-related data for accuracy.
    • Track PTO and leave requests.
    • Maintain knowledge of emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory updates in human resources to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
    • Support the Senior People Operations Manager on special projects as needed.

    Recruiting & Talent Acquisition

    • Manage full-cycle hiring logistics in partnership with hiring managers.
    • Lead onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure smooth transitions.

    Training & Development

    • Develop and manage an internship program.
    • Track and ensure completion of HR training and professional development activities.
    • Support with scheduling and administering staff training programs.
    • Support in designing and delivering staff training logistics, materials, and reporting.
    • Collect feedback on training and provide reporting to the Senior People Operations Manager.

    Culture & Engagement

    • Support execution of staff retreats, engagement events, and recognition programs.
    • Support employee engagement survey administration, including reminders, collection, and basic reporting.
    • Collaborate with managers and the Senior People Operations Manager to identify opportunities to strengthen culture and engagement.

    EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    Key Qualifications

    We are especially interested in candidates with the following qualifications:

    • 3+ years experience of relevant professional experience in human resources or people operations.
    • Experience with multi-state employment compliance.
    • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Passion for accelerating the clean energy transition
    • Preferred: experience in California human resources practices
