    Description

Mad River Path is looking for an Implementation Coordinator to help build what the Mad River Valley has been working toward for decades: a safe, connected, off-road path linking every village from Warren to Middlesex. For the past three years, we have been scoping and building a coalition of support for the proposed 19-mile-long Active Transportation Corridor. Implementation of the corridor will begin in 2026 with the redevelopment of the Kingsbury Greenway in Warren. This is an in-person, 20-hour-per-week, year-round position funded by the towns of Warren and Waitsfield and Mad River Path and located in the Mad River Valley.

Responsibilities: The implementation coordinator will focus 100% of their time on project implementation, working closely with the Executive Director to identify the implementation priorities, and support all aspects of the implementation, including:

    • Researching, applying for, and managing private, municipal, state, and federal grants
    • Applying for and fulfilling the local and state permitting requirements
    • Supporting the Executive Director in maintaining close working relationships with landowners, lawmakers, Agency of Transportation, Agency of Natural Resources, CVRPC, MRVPD, the five corridor municipalities, and other partners
    • Creating maps, charts, diagrams, reports, and other materials
    • Providing technical support to the working groups of the 16-member volunteer implementation committee
    • Tracking project budgets and maintaining administrative systems

Qualifications: The successful candidate has a unique combination of technical, grant writing and interpersonal skills. They are driven, creative, energetic, and practically optimistic in the face of dwindling federal and state funding for active transportation. They win the trust of landowners and funders and maintain positive relationships with the stakeholders. They are organized and detail-oriented with a stellar initiative and follow-through capacity. They have computer, mapping, and basic graphic design skills. Previous grant writing and project management experience is valued.

Compensation: Up to $35 per hour, plus a modest health-care contribution. An opportunity to work as part of a visionary, mission-driven collaborative team of staff and volunteers developing an active transportation corridor that will connect communities, provide a safe alternative to cars, reduce our collective carbon footprint, and become a backbone for the four-season recreational economy in the beautiful Mad River Valley.

To apply: Please send a letter of interest and a resume to info@madriverpath.org. The interview process will start on April 13th. The deadline to submit applications is April 10th, and the projected start date is May 4th.
