PROGRAM COORDINATOR, OST PROGRAMS (K-2)

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The OST K-2 Program Coordinator designs, implements, and oversees high-quality after-school and summer programming for children in kindergarten through 2nd grade. This role coordinates daily operations, ensures regulatory compliance, and fosters a supportive environment focused on early childhood development, literacy, and social-emotional learning.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

PROGRAM COORDINATION & CURRICULUM DESIGN

• Curriculum Execution: Develop and implement age-appropriate enrichment activities focusing on early literacy, STEM, arts, and physical recreation.
• Daily Operations: Manage logistics, student transitions, snack distribution, and daily schedules for the K-2 cohort.
• Resource Management: Maintain, inventory, and order program supplies within the designated budget.

SAFETY, COMPLIANCE & ADMINISTRATION

• Incident Reporting: Document and report any behavioral or medical incidents immediately, following established program and center protocols.
• Attendance Tracking: Maintain accurate daily attendance records, student files, and programmatic data for grant compliance.

FAMILY & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

• Parent Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for K-2 families, providing regular updates on program activities and student behavior.
• Orientation: Assist in organizing family orientation nights and community showcase events

ADDITIONAL KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Actively engage with children with the goal of fostering the positive development of each child in the group
• Supervise youth transitions, meals program, arrival, and dismissal
• Participate in staff development opportunities
• Support a positive climate and culture that encourages positive character growth and responsibility among youth
• Assist program partners in the successful implementation of activities
• Identify additional opportunities and resources that support program goals
• May be required to undertake other tasks and initiatives to support team and organizational goals

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Elementary Education, Child Development, or a closely related field.
• Candidate must be at least 21 years of age
• Minimum of 2 years working directly with K-2 youth in an OST, camp, or school setting.
• Proven knowledge of positive behavior intervention strategies suitable for young children.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse families and staff members.
• Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of program operations and guide ongoing improvements.
• Willingness to adapt to changing work demands.
• Ability to relate to diverse program environments and people of diverse cultures.
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members, providers, and stakeholders.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and organizational skills, ability to multitask and work independently.
• Certification in trauma informed and restorative practices preferred
• Fluent in English and Spanish, preferred.
