Development Coordinator for International Org (Remote/Part-Time)
Details
Description
ABOUT SUNSAR MAYA
Sunsar Maya is a nonprofit helping vulnerable women and children in Nepal build pathways out of poverty through education, mental health, and community-based programs. We operate three centers serving 500+ people daily, and every role on our small, close-knit women-run team has real impact.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Sunsar Maya is at an inflection point in its development work. We have a strong base of committed donors. What we need now is someone to help us build a pipeline, including the networks, prospects, partnerships, and community touchpoints, that will sustain and grow our individual donor base over time.
The Development Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director and Development Director to identify, research, and activate new opportunities for donor engagement — turning ideas into outreach, outreach into relationships, and relationships into revenue. The ideal person is early-to-mid career with enough development experience to work independently and enough initiative to move projects forward without being handed a fully-formed playbook.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Pipeline Building & Prospect Outreach (majority of role)
- Identify and research prospective individual donors, connectors, and community partners to expand Sunsar Maya’s network.
- Conduct research and direct outreach to civic groups, professional associations, Rotary clubs, and other community organizations that may be aligned with our mission.
- Move prospects through a full cycle: research, outreach, follow-up, and coordination — not just compiling names.
- Help track and steward mid-level donors who deserve more personalized attention than mass email alone.
- Bring ideas on potential outreach opportunities, and create a workflow to follow through on those ideas.
Community Partnerships & Event Support
- Explore and activate community partnership opportunities for co-branded fundraising nights, percentage-of-proceeds campaigns, and mission-aligned activations.
- Support small events and community gatherings, including logistics, outreach, follow-up communications, and conversion pathways for attendees.
- Help bring stalled ideas to life — carrying forward concepts from brainstorm to execution.
Peer-to-Peer & Campaign Support
- Revive and operationalize peer-to-peer fundraising programs (birthday campaigns, community fundraising pages) that can generate ongoing pipeline.
- Support the design and execution of community engagement initiatives
- Help coordinate giving circle or sponsorship conversion pathways following community events.
Development Operations Support
- Support the Executive Director with donor communications, meeting preparation, briefings, and follow-up.
- General development support, including emails, thank you notes, donor calls, etc.
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activity, prospect status, and donor interactions in our CRM.
- Track and report on pipeline progress and outreach outcomes regularly.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 3-5+ years of nonprofit development experience, with hands-on exposure to donor outreach, prospect research, or fundraising campaign execution.
- Enough experience to work independently.
- Strong written communication skills; ability to represent Sunsar Maya's voice with warmth and authenticity.
- A bias toward action. You see an idea and help make it happen, rather than waiting for a detailed assignment.
- Comfortable with outreach to strangers: cold emails, community organizations, partner inquiries.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable with follow-through.
- Proficiency with or willingness to learn donor CRM systems; comfort with tracking and data.
- Genuine passion for Sunsar Maya's mission and a commitment to ethical, relationship-centered fundraising.
BONUS POINTS FOR
- Experience at a small or growing nonprofit where you've had to build programs or systems from the ground up.
- Background in international development, women's empowerment, or education programming.

This is a fully remote contract position of approximately 20 hours per week.
