The YWCA of the City of New York (YW-NYC) is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. We are a social justice organization dedicated to addressing issues that emerge at the intersection of race, class and gender. Founded in 1858, the YW-NYC is the first YW in the United States and part of an international movement of YWs worldwide. We currently serve 2,000 New York City youth by providing leadership and advocacy training for young women through our high school Girls Initiatives (GI) and Out-of-School Time (OST) programs for elementary and middle school students in diverse communities in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
The Girls Initiatives is seeking a motivated, passionate, and resourceful individual that is dedicated to supporting the mission at the YWCA. The Program Assistant will be supporting the Director of Girls Initiatives and the Girls Initiatives Program Coordinator, managing administrative and programmatic duties for the Girls Initiatives (GI) programs at the YW-NYC). The successful candidate will be able to prioritize multiple deliverables, provide comprehensive and meticulous administration, file management, and program support for the myriad aspects of GI programs.

This is a part-time, non-exempt position working 25 hours per week, M-Th 1pm-6pm. The Program Assistant role may require regular travel across New York City. The Program Assistant must be able to sit and stand for long stretches of time as well as carry up to 25lb of materials depending on assigned projects and use a computer and phone to communicate with staff and partners.
