    Description

    Rapp at Home seeks a Program Director to develop and manage a respite program for seniors with dementia in Rappahannock County. Modeled on Blue Ridge Respite in Nelson County, Virginia, the program will be based at Washington Baptist Church in Little Washington, Virginia.

    The Program Director will:

    • Lead the planning, administration, promotion, and coordination of a four-hour, two days a week program serving 15 to 20 people with mild to mid-stage dementia or Parkinson’s disease.
    • Create and maintain a high-quality, engaging, and joyful environment.
    • Recruit program participants and caregivers who will benefit from respite
    • Recruit and manage 25 to 30 volunteers, with 8 to 10 volunteers serving each program day.
    • Manage volunteer training with support from Rapp at Home, Aging Together, Blue Ridge Respite and Respite for All and others as appropriate.
    • Give community presentations to recruit participants and volunteers and to build awareness of the program.
    • Recruit and coordinate special program volunteers to enrich activities such as music, art, gardening, cooking, and exercise.
    • Communicate with caregivers as appropriate.
    • Maintain strong partnerships with community organizations and churches to support referrals and volunteer recruitment.
    • Work with the Advisory Committee to develop and implement an evaluation system.
    • Collaborate closely with Rapp at Home staff and volunteers, including supporting fundraising efforts for the program.
    • Work with community organizations to connect participants and caregivers with the specialized services they need.
    • Work with the Executive Director to manage the budget and ensure fees are collected.
    • Prepare reports for the Rapp at Home Board, Advisory Board, and funders as requested.

    The Program Director will report to Rapp at Home’s Executive Director.

    The Program Director will also work closely with an advisory board of community agencies and subject-matter experts, as well as dedicated volunteers who support fundraising, recruitment, outreach, and community education.

    Qualifications

    We are seeking a caring, outgoing, and enthusiastic individual with relevant professional experience (memory care, nursing, social work program management, etc.) and education who is flexible and creative. Experience working with people who have disabilities or memory loss is preferred. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively with volunteers and have experience developing and managing programs. Knowledge of the Rappahannock community is highly desirable. Experience providing recreational or related services to people of any age is also preferred.

    Salary Range: $25 to $30/ hour
