    CA STATE DIRECTOR

    One Fair Wage is a national organization of service workers and restaurant owners seeking to raise the minimum wage closer to the cost of living and end to all subminimum wages. We work to advance local, state and federal policy by educating policymakers, press and the public on the need for One Fair Wage and by: mobilizing low-wage worker voters in support of One Fair Wage; engaging ‘high road’ employers and conscientious consumers in support of One Fair Wage, and create consequences for ‘low road’ actors on the issue; and producing research, books, films and television to help shift the narrative on these issues.

    We are now co-leading a new Living Wage for All campaign with over 100 labor and community partners, to raise the minimum wage closer to the cost of living for all workers with no exceptions. We are looking to hire an energetic, committed full-time State Director to manage our worker organizing, ‘high road’ employer organizing, and Los Angeles, San Francisco and Alameda County Living Wage for All campaigns.

    POSITION LOCATION: LA, SF or Alameda County

    The State Director will be responsible for:

    • Supervising OFW organizers in LA, SF and Alameda Counties who conduct outreach, membership recruitment, leadership development, and mobilization with restaurant workers in those counties;
    • Coordinating the LA, SF and Alameda County coalitions to advance county Living Wage for All campaigns;
    • Project managing the campaign coordination in these three counties, working with OFW staff members and coalition partners to advance narrative, policy and organizing work to advance and win these campaigns.
    • Other responsibilities as discussed and agreed upon.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required

    • At least 7-10 years of community organizing, union organizing, coalition management, campaign management, and/or political organizing experience, with connections to CA community, labor, organizations;
    • At least 3-5 years of management experience;
    • Ability to work independently, yet collaboratively to drive multiple projects and programs in a fast-paced work environment;
    • Excellent writing and communication skills;
    • Results-focused, organized, attention to detail, and strong planning skills;
    • Demonstrated commitment to racial, social, and economic justice and
    • Must have a flexible schedule to accommodate some weekend and evening hours.

    Preferred

    • Restaurant work experience;
    • Additional language skills

    Compensation will vary between $90-$110,000, based on experience. Women, immigrants, and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply.
